Cornerstone Presbyterian Church
Newsletter - December 16, 2016

A congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America, Founded 2013

Dear Friends,
2016 has been a wonderful year! God has blessed us in ways that we can see and even in ways that we cannot see. “The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.”
 (Psalm 145:9 ESV)

As 2016 comes to end, we eagerly look forward to ministry in the New Year. I wanted to tell you about some events to put on your calendar.
  • Rocket City Men's Rally, January 20th. This will be a great event for men from all over north Alabama. Click here to register
  • Roots 2017 Youth Conference of Providence Presbytery, January 20-22. This will be an excellent time for our youth to grow and fellowship with youth from around our presbytery. Click here for more info
  • Cornerstone Women's Retreat, February 10-11 at Alpine Camp in Mentone, AL. This too will be a wonderful opportunity of fellowship and growth for our women.
  • Cornerstone Men's Retreat, March 31-April 1 at Camp Maranatha on Lake Guntersville. Please make plans to attend!
We still have plenty of celebrating to do in 2016 as we rejoice over the birth of Christ! Please see the schedule below. You don't want to miss our 2nd Annual Cornerstone Family Christmas Sunday night at 6:00pm!  This is a such fun time for our church family.  We'll be singing our favorite fun Christmas songs and carols.  There's that special storytime for our children and a great time of fellowship afterwards with homemade Christmas goodies and hot chocolate, as well as ornament crafts for the children!  Also, last week I inadvertently said that the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service was at 6:00pm - it is in fact at 5:00pm. Sorry for the confusion!

Merry Christmas! See you Sunday!

       Preparation for Worship-December 18th
  • This Sunday's sermon: The Incarnation in Isaiah: Jesus, The Light of the WorldIsaiah 9:1-9
  • In preparation for the sermon: "This child brings it, because he is 'Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.' It is remarkable that the four titles applied to this child belong to God alone. He is the Mighty God. He is the Everlasting Father, which means he is the Creator, and yet he is born. There's nothing like this claim in any of the other major religions. He is a human being. However, he is not just some kind of avatar of the divine principle. He is God!" - Tim Keller
