Message from the President
It’s that time of year already; time for our Annual Meeting! This year’s annual meeting is going to be at Old Soul (555 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CA 95814) starting at 5:30 pm, on November 9th. We’re super excited to have everyone get together after the latest great turn-out at the educational event in West Sacramento. (There’s a Kings game that night so think about parking/walking options early. Our President lives downtown and recently went to Old Soul during a Kings game and it wasn’t bad.)
At the Annual Meeting we’re going to give more information about OneURISA to members. At the recent GISPro-CalGIS 2018 event in Palm Springs we signed a new agreement to migrate from one arrangement with the URISA International Board to a new OneURISA version. We’re very excited about the benefits and new representation and the direction OneURISA takes NorCal URISA in. Under OneURISA, all NorCal Chapter members will automatically become members of URISA International.
Also at the Annual Meeting we will recognize and congratulate the 2018 California Geographic information Association’s “Excellence in Education” Award recipient: Professor Hugh Howard of American River College. Students and alumni of the amazing GIS program at ARC are especially welcome to attend and celebrate this achievement.
We would like to open up the following Officer and Board positions for nominations:
President-Elect (becomes the President in 2020)
Secretary (2-year term)
Treasurer (2-year term)
