Chapter Meeting & Networking Social

Join fellow GIS Professionals for the Northern California Chapter of URISA Annual Year-End Meeting & Social.
This will be a terrific opportunity for networking, learning about leadership opportunities,and sharing your ideas for next year’s educational events. Invite your colleagues and help expand our network!

NorCal URISA Call for Nominations

Speaking of leadership opportunities...
Nominations are now being accepted for open Northern California Chapter board positions for 2016.  Nominations are made to the Nomination Committee that will communicate and manage the election process to the chapter.
This is your opportunity to volunteer with your NorCal URISA chapter.  Serving on the board is a great opportunity to expand your professional network, earn credit for the GISP certification, and help carry out URISA’s mission to promote the effective and ethical use of spatial information and information technologies for the understanding and management of urban and regional systems in Northern California.
A board member’s time commitment is at often only a few hours a month for board meetings, most of which are on the phone, and then some additional time that can vary by position.  Specific questions can be directed to
Deadline for nominations: November 27, 2017
Election Dates (if there are contested positions):  December 8, 2017

This year’s open positions are:

  • President-Elect
  • Secretary
  • Board Member At Large (2)

  • Nominations can be made for any open position.
  • Nominations can be made by any chapter member including nominations for themselves
  • Nominees must be current Northern California Chapter Members. Membership form and online dues payment is available at  Once elected, all Board Members must be URISA International members with the exception of Board Members at Large.

Board Nomination Procedures:

To nominate yourself for an open position provide a letter of intent to the nomination committee.
If a nomination is made on behalf of a member, provide the nominee’s contact information to .  The nomination committee will contact the nominee to obtain a letter of intent. 
Letters of intent shall include:
  • Position member wishes to run for
  • A paragraph to include a short bio and any relevant information making the member a strong candidate
  • Optional: Mention if member wishes to run for any other positions if there is not sufficient interest in other positions.
