This section of the pipeline will connect to the existing City of Hillsboro water system, allowing the City to extend its water service to serve the first phase of the South Hillsboro mixed-use development anticipated to be complete in 2018. Though the water in the pipe will not be from the Willamette River until the Supply Program is complete in 2026, the coordination of infrastructure improvements saves money, and allows the City of Hillsboro more flexibility in operating its water system to meet customer needs.
Design recently started on the second phase of the South Hillsboro Area Pipeline Project, which runs north of TV Highway on Cornelius Pass Road to Francis Street. This section of the pipeline will be constructed in partnership with Washington County when work begins to widen Cornelius Pass Road, in 2018.
The Willamette Water Supply Program will also coordinate with the City of Hillsboro to install a portion of the new drinking water pipeline from Blanton Street south to Rosedale Road in the future Cornelius Pass Roadway. These cooperative construction projects result in fewer construction projects, cost savings for both agencies, and reduced impacts on the neighbors.
Kerr Contractors Inc. was also awarded work for Washington County’s 124th Avenue Extension Project that began in 2016. Learn about doing business with our prequalified contractors in our latest fact sheet.
