Dear <<LETTERSALUTATION>>

The quote in the image above came from President Rupert Lazar as he unpacked his theme ‘Anointed to do good' (Acts 10:38). Several stories feature people living this out.

General Secretary Lynn Green’s call to protect the vulnerable children in Calais (she wrote to Home Secretary Amber Rudd MP and all our churches on Friday) arose from the on-the-ground experience of Baptists in the camp. One minister writes directly about his life-changing experience there.

A couple of stories feature ministries alongside those who are homeless. Talking of which, it was World Homeless Day earlier this week, and this reflection asks challenging questions about our call as followers of Jesus.

A challenging question is also posed in this piece about procrastination, while there's much to report from the recent gathering of the European Baptist Federation Council. Baptist Union Council takes place on Thursday and Friday this week - here's a link to prayer points for the gathering. Watch out for updates on social media and a longer report on the website next week.

Baptismal stories
Martin Owen of Blenheim Crescent Baptist Church, Luton writes:

“In our ongoing process to form a new Local Ecumenical Partnership with St Margaret’s Methodist Church in Luton, to be known as The Olive Tree Church, we were overjoyed to hold a service of Baptist believer's baptism and Methodist confirmation combined on 02 October. It was a fabulous service, a blend of Baptist and Methodist traditions, and what better than to celebrate together over lunch.

"Avril Mills was baptised and Arlene Carrick, a Methodist member, was confirmed.  The leading of the service was shared by the Revd Mike Thomas (Baptist) and the Revd Julie Bradshaw (Methodist).”
