Updates from the Clinic

If the Admissions Office has not received the Immunization DH-680 and/or Physical DH-3040 Florida state forms for your student, please make sure you scan/email them to Please make sure your immunizations are up to date and that the form you turn in has not already expired.  Remember, several immunizations are required for entry into kindergarten and the TDap immunization is required for entry into 7th grade.  Be sure your student has this immunization prior to the first day of school. Contact your family physician or nearest health department as soon as possible to receive the proper form or to schedule an appointment before school starts. Students that have not turned in a completed Florida Certification of Immunization Form(DH-680), in accordance with the state law, may not be allowed to attend classes until the requirements are met.

Severe allergies

Please make sure to contact the school nurse @ if your child has any severe allergies. We want to make sure we have documentation for the teachers, health clinic and have alerts put into our computer system to keep your student safe.  You may stop by the clinic on the first day of school to sign paperwork and bring in any necessary medications.  Epi-Pens, Auvi Q's and Benadryl can be kept in the school clinic for the entire school year.  Also, any medication that your student may need throughout the school year (Tylenol, Advil, allergy medication etc.) can be stored in the clinic for your child's use as long as it is brought into the clinic and the proper paperwork is filled out by the parent to store it there.

Lost and Found

Make sure to label all sweatshirts, outerwear, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc. with first and last names before you start school.  The lost and found will get your child's lost item back to them only if it is labeled! Every year we have an enormous amount of items that go unclaimed and not returned to students because there is no name on the item!  Label in a visible place with a Sharpie!

IXL Summer Skill Boost Plans

Rising 1st through 5th Grade students may continue using their IXL username and password from this past year to access the program for the summer.  We are encouraging students to complete the Summer Skill Boost Plans for the grade level completed this past year to help avoid that “summer slide” that comes with a break from school.   Rising 1st Grade would complete the Summer Skill Boost Plans for Kindergarten and so on.    The plans have 20 recommended lessons for both Math and Language Arts. Click on the links below to access these plans:

New students for the 2022-2023 school year in 1st-5th grade will receive a separate email with the IXL username and password as soon as they are able to be enrolled in the program.

Lower School Summer Reading Challenge

We are changing things up with our summer Accelerated Reader testing to help promote regular reading during the summer as well as the school year.    Students have been assigned a Summer AR Goal based on their rising grade level as follows:

  • Rising 1st:  6 points
  • Rising 2nd:  8 points
  • Rising 3rd:  10 points
  • Rising 4th:  12 points
  • Rising 5th:  14 points

Accelerated Reader testing has resumed and will continue through July 29th. Testing will remain accessible from home through the summer for students in rising 1st-5th grades.   Students are encouraged to continue reading in the same range as the end of the school year or the grade level range if they don’t know their range.   Tests significantly below a student’s personal or grade level range will be deleted and not count towards the Summer AR goal.

Students who complete the Lower School Summer Reading Challenge will be presented a ribbon at one of our September chapels and receive a special cookie treat at lunch.  If you need assistance with Accelerated Reader, please contact Lisa DeBoom at

Athletic Information

We are excited to share more about our summer workout program for all rising 9th - 12th-grade student-athletes that are enrolled at The First Academy. Exceptions can be made with approval from the performance staff for middle school students that were on a JV or Varsity roster in the 21/22 school year. Coach Trey Tyler and Coach Jessica Kenning have put together a great plan for this summer that we would like all of our athletes to be involved in as much as their summer schedules allow.

Students will be grouped together and coached in proper lifting techniques to aid in the development of their athletic abilities. Training sessions will occur every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (for June and July) with an optional Wednesday slot for those needing to make up a workout. Workouts will be an hour-long, and teams are encouraged to work out together. The available time slots are listed below, but please be courteous and keep your selected time slot throughout the summer sessions. As a reminder, all summer lifting sessions are free to current TFA student-athletes, but a current physical and FamilyID registration (2022-2023) is required prior to participating.

8:00-9:00  (Reserved for Football)

You can find the link to sign up for summer workouts here: (create an account then scroll down to "Athletics Summer Training Sessions". Please sign up for both sessions if you plan on participating all summer).
