YP-CDN joined over 300 civil society actors thanks to the leadership of NCD Alliance to call on world leaders to go above and beyond the vague and unambitious commitments contained in the Political Declaration of the third UN High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases (UN HLM on NCDs), adopted in New York on 27th September 2018.

Our own YP-CDN Board of Directors member and former Executive Director Jordan Jarvis delivered a passionate intervention on the floor of the multi-stakeholder panel at the Third United Nations High-Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases on September 27, 2018.

On 10 October 2018, the UN General Assembly adopted the Political declaration of the 3rd high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases. Like many organizations, we felt a strong industry presence at the HLM from the private sector such as alcohol, pharmaceutical, tobacco, and food industries who have been influencing the political processes leading up to the High-Level Meeting.

Many civil society actors, including us at YP-CDN have been left wondering why youth continue to be left out of the agenda. From removing age limits of all people living with disabilities under the age of 30, as well as including more youth-led actors in the process, we aim to push forward policy to advocate for human rights and conflict-free policy. We look forward to fruitful discussions in our November 5th Webinar, "What's Next: Catalyzing the Youth Agenda Post HLM3". Save the date and RSVP at the link below today.

We also would like to thank our newest additions to the YP-CDN Executive Team: Leslie Oldfield as Director of Research and Sameera Hassan as Chief of Staff. More information about their bios and information about joining our Executive Team as a Communications Coordinator is available below.

As a final note, we would like to encourage all YP-CDN members to complete the NCD Alliance survey related to HLM civil society activities including our involvement with the "Our Views Our Voices" campaign.

If you haven't already participated, the survey will be live until October 25 at the link here.
