Workshops July 3 & 8

The next workshops for the Floral Tram Project will be held in the upstairs room of the Ballarat Tramway Museum on Tuesday July 3 at 11.00-12.30 and on Sunday July 8 at 1.00-3.00.

These workshops will be suitable for beginners as well as experienced makers who will be encouraged to share and increase the flower output. Pamela has now sourced storage bags, so please bring any flowers you have made and we will keep them safe.

Flower Party

Christine organised a party to celebrate the Winter Solstice with colour therapy, and recycling bottles into flowers!

Mission Centre Sebastopol

Sandra from the Mission Centre Sebastopol delighted us this week when she sent this photo of flowers made by the craft group. Pam had brief encounter with Sandra while visiting the Op Shop, and the group got themselves organised and into production

BRI Group

Barb has been working with a group at the BRI in Sebastopol, making flowers as a break from their packaging jobs. These flowers were made at the first session, and since then they have tripled their output. They have also donated our plastic storage bags and a huge box of glue gun sticks.

A big thankyou

Thanks to everyone who has been donating plastic bottles and bags, including Mount Rowan Seconday College, the Ballarat Courier and tramway volunteers.

Media stars

We have been promoting the project on radio with help from VOICE FM, and the Courier have expressed an interest in covering the story.

The first workshop

So far we have come along way since the first June workshop. Over the month Pam has worked with nearly 60 people, showing them the dark arts of flower production.
We can still use more, so if you know anyone that would be interested, bring them along, share this email with them, and raid their recycling bins!
We need over 3000 flowers, so keep them coming.

Solstice flowers

Some of the flowers that bloomed during the longest night of the year.

WARNING! - The plastic bags we will using to store the flowers have had Mars peanut M&Ms in them. If you have an allergy let us know.
