SADC-GWdataCoM closing workshop

Official launch: Framework for data collection and data management

SADC-GMI hosted the closing workshop for the project Capacity Building For Data Collection And Management In SADC Member States (SADC-GWdataCoM). This workshop was also the official launch of the latest outputs from the project: The SADC-wide Framework for Groundwater Data Collection and Data Management. The main report and executive summary are now available for download.

Groundwater Quality from Global Perspective in Liege, Belgium

A side-event ‘Groundwater quality from a global perspective’ took place during the Groundwater Quality conference 2019  (September 8-12, Liege, Belgium). The event was organised to inform conference participants on various global groundwater quality activities, to provide a floor for discussion beyond cocoons and to encourage collaboration across the scales and borders.

AMCOW Pan-African Groundwater Program

AMCOW (African Minister’s Council on Water) organised an Experts and Stakeholders’ workshop (Nairobi, 1-2 October 2019) on development of the Pan-African Groundwater Program (APAGroP) as a platform for all groundwater stakeholders in Africa. The concept of the APAGroP was presented along the major current groundwater activities across the continent, followed by fruitful discussion about program’s modalities and priorities. IGRAC actively contributed to the workshop.

Framework for groundwater data collection presented at SADC-GMI conference

After a successful first edition in 2018, SADC-GMI organised its second Groundwater Conference on 4-6 September 2019 in Johannesburg, South Africa. During this conference with the overarching theme ‘Groundwater Contribution to SDGs in the SADC region’, IGRAC presented the SADC Framework for Groundwater Data Collection and Management.

IGRAC and other 'Friends of Groundwater' participate in 2nd workshop of WWQA

UN Environment invited international institutions and stakeholders to the 2nd Global Workshop of the World Water Quality Alliance, held 16-18 September 2019 at the EU Joint Research Center in Ispra, Italy. Among the participants at the workshop were a number of institutions that are particularly concerned with groundwater-quality issues at the international level (“Friends of Groundwater”), and IGRAC is one of those organisations.

Closing workshop in Gaborone marks successful completion of RAMOTSWA project phase II

On 9-11 April 2019, the closing workshop of the RAMOTSWA project was held in Gaborone, Botswana. This USAID funded project focusses on one of the most important shared aquifers in the Limpopo Basin: The Ramotswa Aquifer, which is shared between Botswana and South Africa. The workshop was attended by more than thirty participants.
