MARCY-HOLMES MONTHLY

JULY 2018

IN THIS ISSUE:  Why Serve? | We're Hiring | New Park Designs | Yard Sales | More
Why do I serve on the MHNA Board?
“Because it’s a great way to stay connected to your community members. And you become SO much more knowledgeable about what’s happening in your neighborhood and in your city—specifically how things impact you and your fellow residents.

I've met really passionate and knowledgeable people that volunteer their time to cool initiatives that benefit Marcy-Holmes, and I feel as if I might be helping to make my community and my neighborhood a little bit better. Perhaps a bit cleaner, a little safer and more welcoming.”

— David Jones
It’s not too soon for YOU to think about running for the 2019 MHNA Board—whether you’re a new or long-time resident, renter, homeowner, elder or student, living on the riverfront, in Dinkytown, on 8th/9th, or anywhere in between.
Why should YOU run for the MHNA Board?
Because you want to contribute your voice to ensure our neighborhood is a diverse and vibrant community.
For 7 more reasons and to find out about running for election this October, visit the MHNA website or contact Nominations Committee chair, John Capecci, john@capeccicom.com

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT: Tuesday, August 7, 2018!

SCOTT BEAN
There are only a few weeks left before your free block permit which awaits you is no longer free! Give your neighbors an event to remember, with a simple block party, with a permit to block the street--an exclusive perk for being a block leader! Register your NNO event for August 7 by using this link

Wondering what to add to the usual mix of potluck, BBQ, and street chalk for the kids? A visit by our K-9 or Mounted Patrol units, or a fire truck is a great diversion at any NNO event! Call 311 to request them or if you don't have web access, to register your National Night Out party.

1,300 blocks have already registered, and there's really no limit to the number of blocks that can sign up! Well, OK, maybe about 4,000 since that's roughly how many block segments there are in Minneapolis. We'd love for those on the other 2,700 to join us!  Register before July 24 and your free street permit will be issued pronto!

MHNA CAN HELP YOU!

The Marcy-Holmes Neighborhood Association can reimburse you for plates, cups, napkins, and other supplies. If you want any help planning your event, the MHNA office is happy to lend a hand! Just send us an email
