MEET UP: Little Birdy Project
Mon, December 3, 2018, 6 - 7 pm
Machine Shop | 300 2nd St SE

MHNA’s year-long, Little Birdy Project explores the power a positive word makes in the community by posting signs around the neighborhood that are printed with one positive word. The first sign highlights the word IMAGINE.

Little Birdy seeks to engage community and foster connections among neighbors and residents.

In this first meet-up, we will give people an opportunity to explore the relevance of the word, IMAGINE, in community life.

Thurs, December 13, 4:30-6:30 pm
Marcy Open School | 415 4th Ave SE

Metro Transit is planning to improve transit service with the E Line rapid bus project. E Line would follow Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis and Uptown. Metro Transit is starting a Corridor Study to evaluate E Line routing options along more segments of Route 6 south of Uptown and along 4th Street and University Avenue. Changes to the Route 6 and other connecting bus service will also be included in the study. We would like to hear from you to help us determine where the E Line will go.

Neighborhoods 2020 is a community process to identify the next generation of neighborhood programming, funding and governance structure to support the City’s 70 neighborhood organizations starting in 2020 and beyond. Three Work Groups have been established to cover the major function areas of this work: Programming and funding; Governance; and Citywide Engagement Policy. The Work Groups consist of representatives from neighborhood organizations, cultural groups, those with equity/undoing racism experience; as well as, City Council and Mayor representation. The goal is to have policy recommendations to the City Council by March 2019.
Work Group recommendations now available

Draft recommendations from each of the three work groups have been posted online. You can view them by visiting:

More information about this overall initiative can be found HERE.

Southeast Library will close for a 10-12 month renovation beginning Monday, December 10. The library is scheduled to reopen in late 2019.

When the project is complete, patrons will return to a renovated library that serves as a “crossroads” for neighborhood residents and University of Minnesota students, with flexible spaces that support a variety of activities: more space for reading and quiet study, multipurpose rooms to create and collaborate, and an expanded play and learn area for children and families.
