Yoga in 2016
Retreat August 2016

Asana of the month - The Tree

Prema's Yoga News No.13  Monday 11/01/16

I hope you had a happy Christmas, a relaxing break and a good start into 2016. Wishing you health, peace and happiness in all areas of your life.

The yoga classes start again tomorrow Tuesday 16/01/16. I'm a bit behind with writing my newsletter. On the other hand I've done a lot of writing since a week: updating the website, writing and uploading blog posts, keeping social media (facebook + Instagram) updated. Many of you have seen my posts, thank you!!

Please note, that on Australia Day Tuesday 26 January 2016, we have no classes.  Otherwise everything fine.

You can check my Yoga Facebook page Hatha Yoga Ipswich for updates and inspirational readings, as well as my blog-posts on my website (the new ones are listed on the right-hand-side "featured posts", below contact).

Take Care. I look forward to a good year of yoga. See you soon !!

Yoga & Medtation Weekend Retreat Friday 26 - Sunday 28 August 2016

at Gunnebah Retreat near Murwillumbah, northern NSW.

The  topic of this weekend retreat is based on the  five  points  of  Yoga, as taught by Swami Vishnu-Devananda:

  1. Proper Exercise (Asana) Proper exercise should be pleasant to the practitioner while beneficial to the body, mind and spiritual life.
  2. Proper Breathing (Pranayama) Proper breathing should be deep, slow and rhythmical. This increases vitality and mental clarity.
  3. Proper Relaxation (Savasana) By relaxing deeply all the muscles the Yogi can thoroughly rejuvenate his/her nervous system and attain a deep sense of inner peace.
  4. Proper Diet (Vegetarian) A lacto-vegetarian diet. This is an integral part of the Yogic lifestyle.
  5. Positive Thinking and Meditation(Dhyana) Here is the most important point of all, we become what we think. A positive outlook on life can be developed by learning and practicing the teachings of the philosophy of Vedanta. The mind will be brought under perfect control by regular practice of meditation.

During the weekend we practice these five points of yoga.
The retreat is suitable for beginners to learn about the basics of yoga and for more advanced yoga students to deepen their practice.

You find details in the following link on my website. Or I gladly email you a detailed pdf file. Let me know if you have any questions.

Last week I wrote a very nice blog about gratitude and some practical advice for being grateful on a daily basis.

I have been posting a photo about something I'm grateful for on Instagram @mariaprema daily. These posts are also linked to my public yoga Facebook page and many of you have been following and liking them. Thank You!!  To a great year of showing appreciation and giving thanks to life.

Yoga & Meditation Weekend Retreat, from Friday 26 - Sunday 28 August 2016

The Tree (balance pose)

The balancing postures on one leg are mentally highly demanding. These postures develop, to the highest degree, the powers of mental concentration and single-mindedness of thought, as well as physical balance.
It also improves the muscle strength in the standing leg. Therefore always
practice on both sides, even though usually one side is easier than the other.
