Guatemala and Costa Rica exchange experiences on fighting Child Labor with support of the RIAL/OEA
A delegation from the Ministry of Labor of Guatemala travelled to Costa Rica from August 4th to the 7th to learn from their experience in fighting Child Labor, especially in the food storage centers. The goal is to implement a pilot program in Guatemala and strengthen their inter-institutional platform to address the worst forms of Child Labor.

OAS approves agenda for the next Ministerial Conference
The Inter-American Council for Integral Development approved the agenda presented by the delegation of Mexico in the August 13th meeting. The next conference will be held on November 18th and 19th in Cancun, Mexico.

The United Nations member States approve the 2030 development agenda
With a unanimous endorsement from UN member states, the new development agenda is a major breakthrough for the world of work. The agenda, which will replace the Millennium Development Goals, includes targets on youth employment, child and forced labor and empowerment of women.

The seminar, regarding a Human rights-based approach to Social Protection, took place on August 11th and 12th in Santiago, Chile with the participation of the OAS. As part of the exchange, the issue of labor market regulation as a social protection dimension was addressed.

Peru and Brazil are committed to fighting Child Labor
As part of the Bi-national Peru-Brazil Festival, the Ministries of Labor of both countries signed a bi-national agreement with the goal of eradicating Child Labor in the region. The representative of the OAs in Peru was present, supporting the initiative.
