First OAS Intersectoral Workshop on Youth Employment  
This December 15 & 16, the OAS will bring together officials from the ministries of education and labor to address one of the Americas' greatest challenges: youth employment. Participants will analyze strategies they are being developed to improve education and training systems, close the skills gap in the region, and capitalize on the significant potential for youth of the so-called “fourth industrial revolution.” Participants will also include representatives of youth groups, workers’ and employers’ representatives, international organizations and other stakeholders.

Chile appoints new Minister of Labor and Social Welfare
Chile's Head of State recently appointed attorney Alejandra Krauss as her new Minister of Labor and Social Welfare. Alejandra Krauss, said that "it is a tremendous pride" to be part of the government of President Michelle Bachelet, while stating that she "did not hesitate" to accept this new challenge.

Enabling policies for persons with disabilities are crucial to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals
ILO and other international organizations celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities this recent December 3rd. Decent work for all, including people with disabilities, is crucial to eradicating poverty and achieving the future we want, a future that leaves no one behind. This objective needs to be built in to strategies for realizing the Sustainable Development Goals.
