International Women's Day: There is still a long way to go
On March 8, the world commemorated International Women's Day. This day is not only an opportunity to  remember the untiring struggle of thousands of women throughout history, but to reflect on the many gaps that still need to be closed. In the world of work, for example, there are still important lags. According to the ILO Global Wage Report 2018 - 2019, in Latin America men continue to earn 20% more than women, a situation that is replicated worldwide, women are overrepresented in informal employment and face levels of unemployment higher than men, even when they have, on average, more years of schooling. During 2019, the OAS / RIAL will embark on a new study on how the Ministries of Labor have made progress in incorporating a gender perspective in their policies and programs, as a concrete contribution to continue advancing towards gender equality in the Americas.
