A bi-weekly look at Labor Administration in the Americas

Ministries of Labor will share strategies in support for migrant workers
Considering the importance of migration in the region, the "Workshop on Labor Migration: Contributions from the Ministries of Labor of the Americas" will be held on July 13 and 14 in San Jose, Costa Rica. The conference will bring together governmental and non-governmental actors  to analyze the contributions made with regard to migration policy as well as the initiatives that have advanced the protection of migrant worker’s rights. The Workshop is part of RIAL/OAS and is jointly organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the International Labor Organization (ILO), under the auspices of the Government of Costa Rica.

Representatives of workers and employers presented recommendations during the OAS General Assembly
On June 19, representatives of workers and employers participated in a Dialogue with the Heads of Delegation and the Secretary General of the OAS on integral development, democracy and human rights in the region. In their interventions, they made valuable contributions and recommendations.

Labor authorities in the region participate in the International Gay Pride Day
In the framework of the International Gay Pride Day, on June 28, several Ministries of Labor, such as ArgentinaEl Salvador and Costa Rica led marches and events to promote the integration of all people in the workplace and ensure respect for sexual diversity.
 
The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) launches a centralized database for member countries
As of June 13, citizens of the OECS member states have access to a centralized database of regional social and economic statistics such as indicators of labor force, population, education and inflation rates.

On June 19 in Madrid, Spain, presidents and representatives of business organizations invited the governments of the region to promote a national, regional and global environment favorable to investment and open trade, in order to promote inclusive economic growth.
