World Day Against Child Labor:
Remembering SDG 8.7
June 12th marks the World Day Against Child Labor, an occasion on which governments, workers, employers, international organizations and other stakeholders reinforce their commitment towards “ending child labor in all its forms by 2025”, as stated by target 8.7 of the Sustainable Development Goals. 
Although undeniable advances have been made, the latest ILO report shows that if progress continues at its current pace, by that year there will still be 121 million victims of Child Labor, 5.7 million in Latin America and the Caribbean. 
OAS – RIAL takes the opportunity to renew its commitment to work with the governments of the hemisphere to achieve this important goal in our region.

Workers' and employers' representatives will participate in the OAS General Assembly  

The 49th Session of the OAS General Assembly will take place from June 26 to 28 in Medellin, Colombia, under the theme  “Innovating to Strenghten Hemispheric Multilateralism”.  As one of the Assembly´s main events, the “Dialogue of the Heads of Delegation, the Secretary General and the Assistant Secretary General with representatives of the workers, private sector, civil society and other social actors in the framework of the XLIX General Assembly” will take place on June 26. The Chairs and various members of COSATE and CEATAL will be participating .

ILO International Labour Conference begins in Geneva  

The ILO International Labour Conference began today in Geneva, Switzerland, gathering delegations of governments, workers´ and employers´ organizations. During the two-week conference, which commemorates the Organization’s 100 years, participants will hold political and technical discussions on the main challenges of the world of work. As a result, it is anticipated for States to sign a Declaration on the Future of Work, based on the findings of the Global Commission Report published earlier this year.

El Salvador appoints new Minister of Labor 

On June 2nd, Mr. Oscar Rolando Castro took oath as Minister of Labor and Social Welfare of El Salvador after being appointed by President Nayib Bukele. During his first day in office, the Minister highlighted that the axis of his administration will be to institutionalize social dialogue in order to “promote labor relations within the framework of tripartism” and the labor inclusion of people with disabilities.
