LIVE STREAM TONIGHT: The Jazz Piano Show with Dan Delaney 12/31 @ 8pm EST
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
I am so excited to be teaming up with my good friend, jazz pianist & educator Dan Delaney for a special 2 piano concert on New Year's Eve. Join us for an hour of music and conversation to kick off your New Years celebration!
Dan is a world class solo pianist and it was through hearing him in 2013 where I became inspired to explore the world of jazz piano. He has been a mentor ever since and I am so honored to be teaming up with him for The Jazz Piano Show. You won't want to miss what's bound to be a night of endless fun as we will recount our history together and perform a selection of jazz classics from our respective homes - Dan in Arizona and me in Michigan.
We will be streaming live to Facebook at 8pm EST. Click here for the link to the event page where the live stream will take place.
Happy birthday to Luther Hughes! Luther can be described in 2 words as I heard somebody say: “relentlessly swinging”! But beyond being one of the greatest bass players EVER… he’s an incredibly kind and caring person, and has been a great mentor to me and countless others!
3/5/20 - Jazz @ The Merc (Temecula, California)
WATCH - Bijan Taghavi & Luther Hughes: Isfahan
Check out this duo performance of Billy Strayhorn's "Isfahan" from our last gig we did together before the pandemic, 3/5/20 at Jazz @ the Merc in Temecula, CA.
STORY OF THE TUNE:
"Isfahan" was originally titled "Elf". But after the Duke Ellington Orchestra's Middle-Eastern Tour of Iran in 1963, Billy Strayhorn renamed his composition after one of Iran's largest and most majestic cities, it's 17th-century capital, Isfahan.
