Western Extrusions’ New Highly Automated Casthouse

Western Extrusions, located in Carrollton, TX, completed the construction and start up of its first casting facility. The new casthouse empowers the extruder to have control over its own billet supply, as well as enabling an increase in recycled content, which more customers are demanding.

ASI Working with CRU to Improve Sustainability Data Transparency

The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), the leading certification organization for aluminum sustainability, signed an MOU with CRU Group, the global mining and metals business intelligence company. The goal of the agreement is to improve sustainability data integration in the primary aluminum industry.

Hydro to Produce Forging Stock in Rackwitz

Hydro is investing EUR 40 million to expand its Rackwitz recycling plant near Leipzig, Germany, to enable the production of HyForge™ forging stock. The expansion will also significantly increase the use of post-consumer aluminum scrap.
Ball to Produce Ultra-Low-Carbon
Al Containers


Ball Corporation signed an agreement with UC Rusal for the supply of low-carbon aluminum manufactured from inert anode technology, which will be used to produce aerosols and other containers. Ball also announced its new sustainability goals. 
Novelis to Restart Foil Production in Terre Haute

Novelis Inc. plans to invest more than $7 million to restart several pieces of idled equipment for the production of aluminum foil at its manufacturing facility in Terre Haute, Indiana.
