I Had a Dream About You

by Craig Carr, Washington Conference vice president for administration

It can be stressful to dream about work-related topics. However, I had a dream about an answered prayer that had yet to happen. Here's the back story:

We are very grateful to God that He blessed the Washington Conference with a nearly 5% tithe gain from 2016 to 2017. This is a testimony to the individual and collective faithfulness of people all across western Washington. Praise God!

Doug Bing, conference president, invited Jerry Russell and me to join him in praying specifically for a 5% increase. This is an amount equal to about one million dollars and is a bold prayer that Doug had been praying for all year long.

By January 19, 2018, all of the known reports had been gathered from across the conference, which revealed that we had garnered a 4.97% increase for 2017. “So what is God telling us?” Jerry asked, noting the different of only 0.03%, which is equal to about $6,000.
And then I had a dream that weekend...
Washington Conference hosted a regularly scheduled session of Executive Committee this week. Continue reading for highlights of ministry reports!

Hope Boarding House

Members from Tacoma area churches are rallying together to renovate a donated former dental office in Tacoma into a ministry boarding house. Volunteers and local contractors are giving their time, effort, and skill to transform the building into a living space for Christian men to reside in as they transition back into society. Project coordinators hope to have the facility ready in June and the housing program ready soon after.

Financial Indicators

One of the financial indicators we track each year is a monthly year-to-date tithe comparison. Based on past history of giving patterns, we know approximately how much to expect each month. This helps our financial team to set better budgets and effectively manage tithe and offering monies. Some months soar past expectations and other months struggle for a variety of reasons. December is always a "big" month for year-end gifts.

We praise God for a 4.97% official tithe gain in 2017 (after the financial books closed for 2017, we learned about two sets of additional monies that unofficially brought our tithe gain to 5.35%).

Thank you for partnering with God in all aspects of your life. We love hearing stories about how God is blessing you above and beyond your expectations!

End of an Offering

The last ever Conference Ministries Offering was collected in December 2017. This offering had benefited Education, Evangelism, and Sunset Lake Camp. In 2017, you collectively gave $237,264.

Our Lay Advisory (with representatives from your church) requested that this offering become the Washington Youth Offering to help the broad range of ministries benefiting children, youth, and young adults. In your new tithe envelope, you will now see an entry for Washington Youth Offering. The initial support of this offering in January was higher than we expected, and we thank you for your generous offering gifts!
