A Lovely Future

By Doug Bing, Washington Conference president

Having been married for more than three decades, it is fun to think about all the things new couples will really learn about each other as they spend the rest of their lives together.

This weekend I will be officiating at two different weddings. It has been fun to sit with the couples and talk with them about the future and what marriage is all about. It is fun to hear their stories of how they met, their first date, their first fight and the things they like about each other.

Their love stories remind me of passages in God's love letter.

:: THIS WEEK IN WASHINGTON

Back to School Season

The majority of our 19 educational campuses in western Washington are back to school! The first week or first few days of school featured introductions (of teachers, students, and academic topics); welcome back BBQs, handshakes or fist bumps; and the first day of school photos.

Growing Young Adventists
We love growing young Adventists, and one of the best ways we do this is through Adventist Christian Education. Help us make the connection with additional students who should be part of our school family! There is still room for students to grow in our schools!

Our Prayer
With the launch of the 2019-2020, our prayer is for students to know the fullness of God's goodness as they worship, learn, and serve in and through their academic learning.

Adopt a School: Substitute Teachers Needed!

For those who love working with children of all ages, consider serving as a substitute teacher. Why? Because, our teachers sometimes have appointments, trips or family emergencies that require them to be out of the classroom. Sign-up at your local Adventist institution and be that support for our teachers!

Jesus Love the Little Children

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America celebrates the diversity of God’s Creation that is reflected in all humankind. Our differences make us stronger and the combination of our cultures, ethnicities, and human experiences celebrate the vision of our Creator, Jesus Christ. We pray that all will rejoice in the variety of the many. That our differences will make us stronger and our dissimilarities will make us whole.

A Gift of Greater Things!

When Philip found Nathanael and told him about finding Jesus of Nazareth, Nathanael scoffed. But Philip still brought him to Jesus.

Nathanael was surprised at his interchange with Jesus, and declared his belief. And Jesus said, "You will see greater things. Very truly I tell you, you will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man.”

You have the opportunity to your own Greater Things experience with Jesus! South Sound Adventist churches are organizing a Prayer Convocation on September 5-7 at Auburn Adventist Academy Church with Pastors Rome Ulia and Meshach Soli.

It's a free Thursday night, Friday night, and Sabbath afternoon experience (including a light supper on Saturday night). We highly encourage you to RSVP and attend!

Remembering Bryan Badgley

With 40 years of serving the community, Bryan Badgley made many friends for God in the Tacoma and Pierce County area through the American Red Cross, Pathfinders, Sabbath School, Adventist Disaster Response, and Tacoma Adventist Community Services Food Bank where his wife, Leslie, serves as a executive director.

Badgley passed away due to medical complications on August 7, 2019. Family was important to Badgley and his friendships were long lasting. He was a very caring and giving person. He will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held for Bryan Badgley on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 3 pm at Tacoma Central Adventist Church. Memories and condolences can be sent to: The Badgley Family, PO Box 8211, Tacoma, WA 98418.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Tacoma Adventist Community Services: TACS, PO Box 11291, Tacoma, WA 98411 or at www.tacoma-acs.org.
