The Speed of a Sloth

By Doug Bing, Washington Conference president

Have you ever watched a sloth? Boring isn’t it. Sorry for those that love this slow-moving animal. I have met people who just think sloths are wonderful creatures but I am not so sure. Once in a zoo I stood by the enclosure where two sloths were housed because I wanted to see if they ever even moved. That turned into a waste of time because they just didn’t move! I guess they have a different way of thinking and speed to them means something totally different than what the rest of us thinks about.

At times I want things to move along. I sit in meetings that run long or sit in traffic and I just want it to be finished or to get moving. I sometimes get bored with a book that I am reading and just want to get to the end to see what happens. One thing that I would really like to happen as well is for Jesus to come.

Continue reading to see how Doug compares the speed of the sloth to the speed of God!

Spread the Good News of God's Word!

Ready for a change and transformation in your walk with God? We want to invite you to take the "28 for 1,000" challenge starting February 1 as we read through the 28 chapters of Acts. That's one chapter a day for every day of the month!

In Washington Conference, there are currently 429 Bible studies taking place. We want to challenge you to find someone to study Acts with and pray that we can see 1,000 Bible studies happen in western Washington. We believe that connecting with God's Word brings about transformation and that transformation will encourage us to share the Good News. Let's spread the Good News of God's Word!

By Young Adults for Young Adults

This past weekend, nearly 140 young adults from western Washington and beyond attended the first-ever Washington Conference Young Adult Retreat!

The retreat, lead by a core group of young adults, focused on bringing a young adult community together and empowering them to be an active part of ministry in their local churches and communities.

"We are losing ground every day and Jesus has said, 'I want to invite you to be a part of the ministry,'" says Dustin Serns, Port Orchard Church pastor. "God brought the right people to this first retreat to be a part of that bigger ministry."

Another young adult retreat is already planned for August 16-18!
