When God Whispers

By Heidi Baumgartner, Washington Conference communication director

Sometimes like an infant whimpers and cries, my soul cries out to God.
And then He whispers back through His word.

I remember my 5-pound flour sack baby. Some high schools have crying baby dolls for their family life curriculum units for a more authentic experience. But mine didn't cry. It did leak, though!

My flour sack baby, as I recall, had taped-on yarn hair and drawn-on clothes, and it was wrapped in clear packing tape — especially at the seams. Twenty-ish years ago in my class assignment, I didn't grasp the enormity of parenthood.

But now I have a new perspective. Baby cries no longer scare me. I cherish the coos, mews, chortles, wails, grunts, and other baby sounds my little son makes.

Baby is talking. I try to listen.
God is talking. I am trying to listen.

Blue Zones are Back in the News

Every so often, the topic of Adventists and Dan Buettner's research on Blue Zones comes back into public media. This week, NBC News BETTER is featuring a synopsis of Buettner's research. Stories like this are a good reminder for us to evaluate our health habits, set new challenges, and invite others to live with better health.

Delegate Information Meetings Underway

As we prepare for our upcoming 60th constituency session, Washington Conference is hosting a number of Delegate Information Meetings so our church, school, and ministry representatives are well-informed and prepared for conducting business on April 28. Already, Delegate Information Meetings were held in Bremerton and North Cascade. There are five more sessions with locations in Chehalis, Kirkland, Emerald City (Seattle), and two in Federal Way (English and Spanish).

We'd like to say thank you to our delegates for investing time and effort in preparing for constituency session. And thank you, all, for your prayers!

A Day of Prayer and Pause for His Presence

Church business needs to be surrounded in prayer. Ahead of our 60th Constituency Session on April 28, Washington Conference is inviting all churches to observe a moment of silent petition on Sabbath, April 27.

We ask that you take this time of agreement in prayer to ask for the Father’s presence, power, and provision for our delegates and leaders at this important meeting.
