Adding a Human Touch

By Doug Bing, Washington Conference president

I just finished reading Harvard Business Review’s cover article for August about the “The AI-Powered Organization.” Our fast-changing world is filled with artificial intelligence from optimal crop harvest times to bank loads to many customer service interactions.

A few pages later in the same issue was a customer service article about the necessity of human touch to bolster customer confidence in their own decision making.

There's applications to Christianity right here! Keep reading to see why human contact still needed in a world filled with artificial contact!

A Camporee Experience

What if I told you that spending a full five or six days in an open field, surrounded by 50,000 people or more, walking five to 10 miles per day, having to go to porta potties and bathe in shower houses, and sleeping in a tent and trying to keep up with a group of teens and preteens would be the best experience that you could ever have this summer? This is what happens every five years at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) airfields in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Pin-Tastic! Come Trade with Us!

When the 600 Pathfinder youth and adult representatives from Washington Conference arrive in Oshkosh, Wisc., for the International Pathfinder Camporee, they will be bringing collectable pins to trade and share!

Our Pathfinders will have two pins to share: our official Washington pin featuring the Space Needle and our just-for-fun, moveable, glow-in-the-dark Sasquatch pin. Come trade with us!

More Pin-teresting News!

We're also part of the limited edition North Pacific Union set of pins! There's the NPUC core pin, and then radiating pins for Washington, Oregon, Upper Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and Palau. Wait? Palau? We're predicting the "why Palau" question may come up quite a bit in conversation!

Why Palau? Because We're Partners!
Want to trade for one of these pins? Talk with Doug Bing, Craig Carr, Jerry Russell, or Craig Mattson, or additional northwest leaders! You'll likely find these leaders in the prayer tent and in the NPUC camp!

We're introducing a conference hashtag for camporee time!

  • Official event hashtag: #2019Chosen
  • Washington Conference hashtag: #WAChosen2019
When you're sharing photos on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, add the hashtags to your captions and posts. We're looking forward to seeing your view of camporee activities and experiences!
