Faith in a Time of Stress

by Eric Davis, Washington Conference associate treasurer

Have you ever been extremely stressed about a problem in your life, only to find out later that there was no need to worry at all? My wife, Ashley, is currently going back to school full-time to become a nurse practitioner, but has also decided to work 30 hours a week at the same time. As you can imagine, her life is quite busy and for someone who strives to achieve her best, the stressors can be strong.

This past semester, she told me how worried she was about a B+ she had in one of her classes, even though she had A’s in everything else. Considering the amount of time she had to complete assignments and study for tests, I was quite proud of her! I know that when she graduates and starts her new work responsibilities, her patients will not ask her about that one grade; they will only want to know if she received her diploma!

The Bible has many examples of individuals who encountered personal struggles. Keep reading to see how they reacted to the problems they encountered, plus discover what you can learn too!

Website Ministry Growing

Heidi Baumgartner was a guest of AdventSource this week at the 13th annual Adventist Church Connect (ACC) web developers' conference in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In North America, there are 6,828 total Adventist Church/School Connect websites which have 15 million views in the last year with 6 million web visiting sessions and 3.7 million web users. Each month, the Adventist Church in North America invests $1,071 per month in Washington Conference websites to give free-to-us websites to churches and schools.

ACC is now offering two website options:
  • v1.0 is a basic website for the church who wants a web presence with no upkeep or webmaster required.
  • v3.0 is a full service website for the church who wants to further develop their web presence.
This website service is constantly in development, and 200 specific site improvement requests were processed in the last year. One of the special requests: a brand new school-specific website template! It is beautiful and easy to customize for a local school!

"One of the best parts of this conference for me was asking our church and school webmasters for their feedback, and then sharing their voice with the developer team," says Baumgartner. "The team loved hearing real-time reactions from Washington webmasters."
