Fueled by the Love of Jesus

By Doug Bing, Washington Conference president

When you’re reading, do the words ever seem to jump out at you and make you think a little deeper? This is what happened as I read through the epistle of Romans. The first few words in Romans 12:9, “Let love be without hypocrisy,” was a powerful statement that started a deep personal contemplation as to the meaning of this verse.

As I thought about those words more, a thought came to me. Paul is implying that there are times when people love without sincerity...that they love while being hypocrites. Of course, Paul knew that it was impossible to love without sincerity, but, he certainly implies the notion.

I believe there are times in our lives that we act with love but without sincerity. If you were to stop reading at the first phrase of Romans 12:9, you might be saddened by the meaning. However, as you continue to read the verse fully, it gives you hope.

Find out how Doug finds hope in the last phrase of Romans 12:9 in the Growing Leaders Blog!

:: THIS WEEK IN WASHINGTON

Growing Together in Jesus

Washington Conference ministry leaders spent two days growing as a mission-focused team, collaborating about upcoming department and ministry dreams, and growing stronger in Jesus together.

Mack Rucker, formerly of Adventist Health Systems, lead an interactive presentation emphasizing the strengths that are added when you focus not only on the physical and spiritual interactions, but the emotional and mental interactions you have with the community and meeting core needs.

"Through our love, God shows He cares. Through our hands, He does His work."

During department presentations, the ministries were able to collaborate, share ideas, and dream of possibilities with each other!

REMINDER: Upcoming Education Survey

Washington Conference of Seventh-day Adventists is reaching out to current and former parents, members, and prospective families to gain their perceptions of Adventist Education and how we can improve for the future.

You, as a Washington Conference e-subscriber, will be receiving up to four survey-related email invitations from info@washingtonconference.org that will be co-signed by Doug Bing, president, and Craig Mattson, vice president for education.

The survey has about 30 questions and should take about 10 minutes of your time. Your answers are held in confidence by our research partner Campbell Rinker, who will present them in aggregate to Washington Conference. This survey is jointly presented by Washington and Potomac Conferences, funded by the North American Division, and coordinated by Campbell Rinker.

Whatever your experience with Adventist Christian Education,
we value your feedback and thank you for your time and input!
