A little over a month ago we announced some forthcoming changes to the coaching system at Austin Table Tennis. Well, the changes are here!
Through a joint effort from the Coaching Development Committee (CDC), the Board of Directors, and feedback from individual members, we have a new coaching policy that is in effect starting today. We request that all members of the club familiarize themselves with the new guidelines as soon as possible, especially those who receive coaching lessons or who might want to provide coaching services.
The basics of the new system are:
You MUST be approved by the CDC for coaching If you would like to offer coaching services at the club, you MUST start by getting approved by the CDC. To do this, please download and fill out this application form (either digitally or in print). Anybody is welcome to apply, but approval will be based on certification and/or experience. Please note this means: no coaching is allowed in the club unless the coach has been approved by the CDC.
Coaching administration and pricing Coaching sessions must be booked using MBO software and/or with the help of front desk staff. The club will take a flat percentage of all coaching proceeds as payment for administrative overhead and usage of the club’s tables -- more details are available in the complete policy document (see link below). Coaches can keep the rest of their proceeds, after the club’s percentage cut. As long as the above guidelines are observed, coaches may charge whatever rates they want for their sessions.
Comments, questions, improvements ⇒ CDC The role of the Coaching Development Committee is not just to help design the policies, but also to serve as an oversight group and a place for all of your feedback. So if you have an idea about the coaching system, a complaint about a coach or coaching practice, feedback you’d like to share, or would even like to get involved in future development work, just reach out to them (currently Masoud, Lifeng, and Cesar), or send email to firstname.lastname@example.org

We are excited to move forward! Please help us by observing the new guidelines, encouraging others to do the same, and we’ll all contribute to the thriving and growth of our club.
