2nd Butterfly Austin Fall Classic RR

Thanks to everyone who came out to this event and congratulations to all the winners. Extra credit goes to UT Student Felix Chan for keeping the grand prize in Austin. We had 69 registered players rated 101 to 2518 representing 12 different clubs. Because of your participation and support, this Fall Classic became one of the most popular tournaments in recent memory. See our Facebook page for more photos and details.

Edgeball: Player Profile—César Serna

Our club member Dr. Brian Doherty has signed on as a regular columnist. We may have to raise his pay to TWO pats on the back. He calls his column "Edgeball" and this time it is a player profile for our very own César Serna who has been a regular here for years and part of the Texas TT scene for longer still.

Check out this month's Edgeball HERE.
League Rating Distribution Chart 9/30/2014

League Demographics

The above chart shows the distribution of our 225-member league roster using all players who have played in the last 6 months.

The average league player is relatively new to competitive table tennis. While it is true that our newcomer players don't play every single week, as a whole they are very much a significant group.

We look forward to how this will develop in coming months as our more committed newcomers start to rise in the ranks. See our league page and join our league group for more league-specific information.

Coach Yang Returns from ICECP

Coach Yang spent most of October at the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program which intensively trains a select group of coaches on how to promote their developing sports. USATT Magazine has agreed to publish an article about Yang's experience and future plans so look out for it in a few weeks. Yang's coaching schedule has returned to normal and he's glad to be back with his students.
Volunteer!

Table Tennis Tourism: Puerto Rico

I spent early October in beautiful Puerto Rico seeing the sights, eating mofongos, and generally sweating up a storm. This was also the first trip where I took a page out of Masoud's "have paddle, will travel" philosophy and I was able to arrange a lesson with National Team Member. See full write-up HERE.
