Play Break

Play Break is an emotional-social break for wellness through play. The idea comes from play therapy's effect on individuals with trauma and anxiety. Learning and engaging become an enjoyable experience when you use to play as an intervention. Playing is really just problem-solving satisfyingly for the user. While this isn't structured play therapy, it is a play intervention for stress, anxiety, and trauma.

There will be board games and there will be cards. You can learn a new game or teach us your favorite. Join us for a break, play, and decompression. Maybe even laughter.

Ecotherapy Workshop

This workshop is skills based and experiential. We will be exploring mindfulness skills and practicing mindfulness in nature-settings to strengthen your relationship with nature and the land, as well as identify metaphors in nature to facilitate self-reflection. Themes of connection and reciprocity will be explored. Two sessions will be skills-focused instruction outdoors and two sessions will be outdoor experiential sessions.

This is a four-part series, so please plan to attend all four sessions if you register. Pre-registration is required. Registration will close on 9/16, or after registration has reached capacity. Once you have been registered, we will email you materials and information. All students are welcome.

Radical Embodiment Workshop

This workshop combines reflection, art, discussion, and skill-building. We will explore our body narratives and cultivate awareness, empowerment, connection, and community.

As a community we will work to create a space that centers fat, disabled, BIPOC, queer and trans students, with a focus on body liberation.

Please note that this is not clinical therapy, and not intended to replace clinical therapy or treatment, but a space to explore, connect, and empower. To receive assistance connecting with a therapist and/or treatment team for body and eating-related support, please contact the HCC for resources.

This is a four-part series, so please plan on attending all four sessions. Pre-registration is required for participation in this workshop. Registration will close on 9/16, or after registration has reached capacity. All students are welcome.

Nature-Based Mindfulness Experiences

We will offer a variety of nature-based mindfulness experiences that can be modified depending on attendee preferences and accessibility needs. These practices will either be stationary or mindful walking experiences. If we decide to engage in a walking experience on the Reed campus, the pace will be slow and the focus will be on engaging your senses. The paths may be uneven/muddy. The focus of these practices will be to strengthen your relationship with the land and nature and to transition from “thinking” to “sensing” and from “doing” to “being” which will help facilitate nonjudgmental present-moment focus, connection, self-reflection, and centering. We will meet weekly on Fridays.

Time Management for New Semester

Time is a non-renewable resource - and you only have so much time to do all the things you want to do once you do the things you have to do. How do you make time to get all your readings done? When can you study - and still make time to enjoy your time with friends? Come to this workshop to discuss strategies for effective time management, ways to plan for the things you have to do, so that you have time to do the things you want to do.
