Philadelphia Social Innovations Lab (PSIL) Announces YSRP as 2015's MOST INNOVATIVE SOLUTION
to Combat Regional Poverty
On December 1st in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Social Innovations Lab (PSIL) and its literary counterpart, the Philadelphia Social Innovations Journal (PSIJ) hosted a forum kicking off both the launch of the journal’s 25th edition and also announcing the most innovative ideas to combat the social determinants of poverty in the Philadelphia area and beyond.
A total of 12 teams, all participants in the 2015 fall PSIL cohort, presented their anti-poverty social enterprise program and business ideas to a panel of judges comprised of funders, social entrepreneurs and leaders from both the public and private sectors. Ideas ranged from innovative donor apps, mission oriented for-profits, and new social service programs to combat disparities in education, healthcare, and other areas of social concern.

These 12 teams were selected from over 60 applications received in December 2014, as a result of public voting at an event held at the National Constitution Center.
YSRP was honored to be named as the winner among such a distinguished group of organizations and ideas.

"A social innovation is a novel solution to a social problem that is more effective, efficient, sustainable, or just than current solutions. The value created accrues primarily to society rather than to private individuals."
