YSRP at the Philadelphia Bar Association: July 19, 2016
This afternoon CLE program provides training on sentencing mitigation and reentry planning in the wake of the United States Supreme Court's decision in Montgomery v. Louisiana, which called for the resentencing of over 300 Philadelphia men and women who were sentenced to life in prison without parole before their 18th birthdays.
The Atlantic Center for Capital Representation (ACCR) and YSRP have previously hosted 2-day training sessions for mitigation specialists and volunteers who are interested in serving as mitigation specialists. ACCR and YSRP, along with the Legal Rights of Children Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Public Interest Section, have developed this condensed program to provide an overview of the fundamentals of mitigation and reentry as they relate to an attorney preparing for and presenting a resentencing hearing.
