5900 South Improvements 

Current Work

The following activities will take place over the next two weeks:

700 West to Commerce Drive.
  • Crews will finish paving this week, including installing pavement markings. During this work there may be short-term traffic restrictions, with flaggers used when needed.
  • Beginning next week, crews will begin raising existing utilities and will finish any remain concrete work.
Commerce Drive to Hatton Circle
  • Waterline and storm drain installation will continue along 5900 South, proceeding east from 350 West. During this time, water service may be temporarily shut off for periods of time on 5900 South and the adjacent side streets. Impacted residents and businesses will be notified before a water shut off, when possible.
  • Work will begin late this week to finish the storm drain installation in Hatton Circle.There may be short-term traffic restrictions during this work, with flaggers used when needed.
  • Work will continue on 300 West from approximately 5850 South to 5900 South. Traffic will intermittently be reduced to one lane, with flagging operations used when needed.
  • The sidewalk on the north side of 5900 South remains closed to pedestrians. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the south side of the street.
  • Paving from Commerce Drive to train tracks east of Stratler Street will occur this week. There may be short-term traffic restrictions during paving, with flaggers used when needed. We anticipate that the remaining paving, to Hatton Circle, will occur by the end of September.
Hatton Circle to State Street
  • Crews will begin installing waterline and storm drain this week. To complete this work traffic lanes will remain shifted to the south side, with flagging operations used when needed. All residents on this section of 5900 South will maintain driveway access during this time.

Curing Concrete

As a reminder, please do not walk or drive on concrete that is taped or coned off. This concrete is curing and needs time to reach full strength. Putting weight upon it before it reaches that strength could result in cracking.
