Charlottesville Precept Upon Precept Bible Study

Who we are:   Men and women who seek to accurately handle the Word of God through in-depth study and meaningful discussion. During the 2014-15 season we represented 25 different churches within the Central Virginia area.
What we believe:  We believe in the plenary verbal inspiration of the Word of God. We believe that both Old and New Testaments are inerrant in the original writings and are the supreme and final authority for faith and life.

What happens at Precept on Wednesday mornings?

9:15-10:10. We meet in small groups and discuss insights from our personal study the previous week (Each course has a workbook which directs our study and teaches us HOW to study effectively.)
10:30-11:30. All small groups combine to hear a message (either live or by DVD) which builds upon the passage we have studied during the week and discussed in our small group. In the 2 Samuel/1 Chronicles  series we will feature video lectures by Kay Arthur.

"Precept" has become a regular part of life for many in our community, as they discover that whenever God's people come together for an in-depth study of His Word, wonderful things happen ---
meaningful worship, fellowship, prayer, mutual encouragement, and sharing of lives and hearts.

Fall 2016 Study:

The Life of David- A Man after God's Own Heart.

During this 10 week course (8 lessons), from Sept 14 through November16, we’ll study a portion of Scripture often neglected. We begin as David becomes King of Israel and will follow his story as the “man after God’s own heart.” We'll see him as the great leader and worshipper of God we know from the Psalms. We'll also study his sin and  the consequences of sin. We'll observe his successes and his failures as he looks to "finish well" in his life on earth. David's time in history is replete with stories of bloody wars, deceit, death, and corruption (sounds like today?). In the midst of this chaos, we will find lessons for our own walk in the world. And in the midst of it all, we once again meet the Sovereign God whose Covenant directs the course of history and the big picture of redemption.

The lecture segment of the class will be taught by Kay Arthur.

We hope you will join us on this journey.
