Gardening with Kids
Growing a Love of Veggies

Spring is the perfect time to get your kids outside and actively involved in starting a garden.  Even if you don't have much space or time for a large garden, you can still start a few plants. Last year, we had a small, suburban garden plot on the side of our house. It didn't require much space, but we were still able to grow spinach, lettuce, zucchini, spaghetti squash, cucumbers, and cherry tomatoes. The biggest reward though for our efforts was the excitement that the kids had in not only watching their plants grow, but also in getting to eat their own veggies. They were excited to grab a pair of scissors and head out to the garden to cut "leaves" for a salad for dinner. Just a few months ago, these same kids did not even want a green leafy vegetable to touch their plate. They also enjoyed picking out recipes to figure out how to use up our bumper crop of zucchini. So if you haven't already done so, plan a garden with your kids and watch their love of veggies grow.

Wouldn't it be great to connect with other Moms who are on a similar journey?  I'm excited to be hosting a Moms Meetup on Saturday May 2, 2015 at 12:30 pm at the Montessori School of Westfield to give all of us a chance to share our stories, talk about solutions, and learn more about how we can band together to create positive change in our communities for all our kids. If you live in the area, I hope that you'll plan to come and maybe even bring a couple of friends. If you live too far away to attend my event, then perhaps you might consider hosting your own event.  Check out Mom's Across America to learn more about their organization and how you can join in the movement to keep our food supply safe.

My passion is spreading the word about the impact that high quality food can have on children's health and behavior. If you're struggling to get your kids to eat a well balanced diet, wondering how to get rid of processed food, or need help tackling chronic illnesses and behavior problems, I'd love to chat with you about how I might be able to help you reach your goals. Sign up for a free initial consultation to get the process started!

Best Wishes!

Kelly
