Four years after leaving his post as Vice President Joe Biden’s chief economist, Jared Bernstein is once again entering the fray of national politics. But this time, Bernstein is doing it from the outside, courtesy of his new book, The Reconnection Agenda: Reuniting Growth With Prosperity. One of the nation’s most prominent voices on income disparity, Bernstein timed the book’s release to the beginning of the 2016 presidential season, hoping to help shape the conversation over America’s growing -- but increasingly unequal -- economy.
