Turtles & Pearls is Back!
And in Person

Phoenix Alumnae Chapter of Delta Zeta's signature event "Turtles and Pearls" is Sunday, April 11 2021. Finally an ocassion to meet with our sisters together in person. You will not want to miss this annual event that honors our 65, 50, 25 and 10 year DZ membership milestones that were achieved in 2019 & 2020. We also honor and welcome our Pi Zeta chapter senior members who will be graduating in 2021 and becoming alumnae members.

This year the event will be held at Stone Creek Golf Club. Located at 4435 E Paradise Village Parkway South, Phoenix, AZ.

We will be served a buffet BBQ lunch on their patio, safely distanced, mask required. Please wear badge attire. And let's celebrate being together with our DZ sisters safely, at last.

Food will be great, but come for the sisterhood. A Cash Bar will be available throughout the event. This is always a wonderful Delta Zeta Phoenix Alumnae tradition and you won't want to miss it-especially if you are being honored with a DZ membership milestone from either 2019 or 2020. Since last years event was cancelled both years will be honored.

Registration and photo booth starts at 11am. Program with the membership recognitions and luncheon will start at 11:30.

Cost is $35. Your reservation must be received by Friday, April 2 either by paying through our website:
Or sending check to our treasurer Lorna Green, 4723 Voltaire, Phoenix, AZ 85032. As the Pi Zeta chapter seniors are our guests, please consider sponsoring a senior for $25 as well. Questions contact Lee Ann at (480) 695-4800 or

Hope to see you at Turtles and Pearls. It is always amΔΖing!

Truly Connected Networking Nights

National is excited to announce the dates for the Spring 2021  events, our virtual networking opportunities for collegiate and alumnae members. Similar to the fall, they will host two opportunities to connect and network per month – one based on a targeted professional development topic and one night based on industry. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask career-specific questions, share their experiences and expertise, and begin creating relationships with sisters of different chapters, ages, and backgrounds. Truly Connected Networking Nights will take place at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, 7:00 p.m. Central, 6:00 p.m. Mountain and 5:00 p.m. Pacific time. You can register for the virtual events by clicking the links below:

Delta Zeta Sorority launched , our first-ever professional women’s conference, in 2016 in Atlanta and have since brought the event to Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York City and Washington, D.C. The goal of Truly Connected has always been to connect with members, build skills necessary for navigating a career post college and provide professional growth opportunities for our members. These events have been a manifestation of the Sorority’s strategic plan and promise to enhance alumnae engagement, while also nicely combining our commitment to lifelong learning with the shared desire to empower women to lead and serve.

We are excited to see this opportunity grow and hope you will join us for a Truly Connected Networking Night this spring!

What is the Delta Zeta Virtual Book Club Reading?
Our April selection to read is The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory. Praise for The Proposal "With sharp banter, a well-rounded cast of characters, and plenty of swoony scenes, Jasmine Guillory defends her position as one of the most exciting rom-com writers out there."--Buzzfeed "There is so much to relate to and throughout the novel, there is a sharp feminist edge. Should be a fun read!
Our March book was The Round House by Louise Erdrich. Even if you have not read the book you are invited to join us for the discussion on April 6th. Our monthly book is chosen based on conversation starting story lines. The DZ book club virtual zoom event to discuss The Round House will be April 6 at 7pm. We always meet the first Tuesday of the month. Click link to join discussion.  Passcode is: DZ
Words Matter
When referring to a group of sorority women it is "alumnae". A single woman is "alumna". The term "alumni " is only used for a group of men and women or a group of all men. For example: "Susie and her husband will join other alumni from Arizona State University at next years event".
There is always confusion about use of collegiate/collegian as well. Collegiate is an adjective; collegian refers to person. So, it’s “invite all the collegians to a collegiate event.”
A Delta Zeta For Life
by Lorna Green
As I talk to many of the Pi Zetas at ASU, I often think to myself, “you have no idea how being a Delta Zeta will affect your life if you let it”. I didn’t pledge Delta Zeta until the middle of my junior year at the University of Illinois. I lived in the House my senior year. Because I joined so late, I never held an office. I had always enjoyed the meetings with the Alumnae
so four years later when my husband and I returned to the Champaign area, I joined the Alumnae group and soon became President of the House Corporation for the very House I joined (Alpha Beta). I made so many friends of all ages among those women.

So, of course, I joined the Phoenix Area Alumnae group shortly after moving here in 1985. Again, I made many friends, good friends that have made such a difference in my life. I also have held offices in both the Alumnae group and the Pi Zeta House Corporation. (I only mention this because it helps me feel like I made up for not contributing as an Undergrad). So, for over 50 years (yes, I am one of those OLD Golden Roses I used to admire) I have enjoyed the friendship of many remarkable women. I have learned their life stories of bravery and dedication. I have shared in life-changing moments, celebrated new births and marriages and buried dear friends. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, and I blushed. But I lived. I could have just not joined the Alumnae groups but oh, what I would have missed.
