Lunch on DZ's and enjoy our sisterhood.
Phoenix Alumnae Westside Lunch Bunch
Just a little history about our group might be interesting.  About three years ago as I was contacting DZ's about our Founder's Day event, I heard from some of the DZ's who live on the west side of the Phoenix.  They were lamenting that because of age and health issues all of the events that were held for the sorority were usually in the east valley and therefore difficult to attend.
After talking to several Delta Zeta's, we thought it would be great to organize a lunch group that meets in the west valley to accommodate these sisters.

Since our beginning we have developed a wonderful group of sisters that have shared a long history in our sisterhood and many of whom I may never of known without this group. It has been a real blessing to me and while it was originally organized for the westside we have several sisters attending from all over the valley.

We would love to have any DZ from any part of this large valley to feel free to attend our luncheons. We have sisters that are willing to provide transportation if that is needed. The trip to Peoria is almost as much fun as the lunch. If you are interested in more details contact Anne Gay: elizg1@frontier.com, cell phone:602-653-9470 or home phone:602-482-1807.

Our next luncheon is: Monday, March 2nd at Mercer's Restaurant, 9720 W. Peoria Ave.
(Just off W. 101 at exit 10)
Reservation should be made to Anne Gay by Friday, Feb. 28th.

It's time to apply for a Phoenix Panhellenic Scholarship. Pictured is DZ Bailey Bach, ASU who was a recipient last year. Applications and details: https://www.phoenixpanhellenic.com/applications.html
Also pictured are Lee Ann Witt and her husband Dave who were 2 of our DZ volunteers who help make these scholarships possible. Thanks to all our volunteers this year!!
Phoenix Panhellenic Association

Judith Hardes is our DZ Woman of Impact at the Phoenix Panhellenic Centennial Celebration on April 25. For those that don't know Judith: “I was a “depression kid”, but as family finances improved my mother instilled in me the importance of giving back. So now I can live a comfortable, economical life and share my resources with causes and organizations that matter to me-the arts, politics, education and feminist issues".

In 2018 she established the Judith Hardes Endowed Fund at Penn State to provide financial assistance to outstanding undergraduate women in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies. "I know it is difficult for many people to comprehend, but when I graduated women could not buy a car, open a checking account or even make a major health decision without a man’s permission.

We’ve made significant progress since then, but we still have a way to go to protect and advance our rights." She also underwrites an annual scholarship at Alice Lloyd College in Kentucky and supports the Delta Zeta Foundation Scholarship Program and the AAUW Fund.

She is currently a board member of the The Phoenix Theatre Company and has a theatre on their campus named for her. She was acknowledged at the annual Arizona Citizens for the Arts banquet and awarded the AriZoni Max McQueen Distinguished Service Award. She also supports Theater Works, Prescott Center for the Arts, The Arizona Theater Company, Black Box Theater, Phoenix Art Museum as well as public television and radio.

In her sixty years in AZ, she's been active in the Democratic Party as an officer of both county and state organizations and women’s clubs and inducted into the State Party’s Hall of Fame.

She also supports many hands-on-non-profits that assist others less fortunate than we. It’s giving back.

What a truly generous Delta Zeta who certainly lives our creed, "To those whom my life may touch in slight measure, may I give graciously of what is mine"

A few tickets to the Centennial event are still available at:

Phoenix Panhellenic Association will celebrate its Centennial on Saturday April 25, 2020 at 10am-1pm at the Camby Hotel at 24th Street and Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ.
