The Haze Showband
The HAZE SHOWBAND is a Perth based band that has been delighting metro and country audiences for many years. Formally known as Purple Haze way back in the 70s, the quartet reformed in 2009 and has been busy ever since.
Their music covers early rock ‘n’ roll, swing, country, jazz and latin – evergreen music from our youth! Vocal harmonies are a speciality of the Haze and - with a range of instruments in the band – they pay tribute to many artists and genres.
Greg (Bazz) Clarke is a fine player and vocalist who doubles on trumpet, flugle, soprano and tenor sax and rhythm guitar. He’s been around the local music scene for many years – as a solo performer and in bands.
George Janicki is a recent addition to the Haze. Robbie Jones recently retired from the band and George has stepped up as lead/rhythm guitarist. George has been on the Perth music scene for many years and is a great asset to the band with his fine style and vocals.
Rod Christian is a composer and professional music teacher. He plays bass in Haze, sings lead vocals and harmony and is the “choir master’ behind the band’s performances. Rod composed the book/music and lyrics for his well-known musical, “Cruisin’“ and has just completed “Mates” – a WWII love story about his mum and dad. Rod also plays keyboards and guitars and records and produces music in his studio, Hotel Sorrento.
Nige Ridgway completes the quartet on drums and vocals. He has been playing in rock ‘n’ roll, jazz and country bands since the mid-60s. He is also a guest speaker for U3A, Probus and Rotary, an accomplished author and enjoys being a Rottnest Volunteer guide.
Greg says, “We love performing for dances and concerts and our music appeals to a wide audience. We’re looking forward to playing with George. Audiences love the band, and the dancers love the style of music we play. Above all, we always have a lot of fun!
