7th transnational consortium meeting: hybrid is the new normal

On November 24th the FOSTEX consortium came together for its 7th transnational meeting. Actually, this meeting was planned as an extra meeting to take advantage of the fact that some of the partners from Morocco and Jordan were able to travel to Terrassa (ES) to have some extra face-to-face capacity building program activities. Due to the persisting travel restrictions related to the CoViD-19 pandemic, some of the partners were unable to participate physically in the meeting, thus a hybrid gathering was set up. Most important update: the project duration has been extended until July 2022 in order to higher the possibility to organize the final conference in Jordan face-to-face. Capacity Building Workshop

One of the core goals in FOSTEX is to provide capacity building activities for the associated partners in the project. The CoViD-19 situation is heavily impacting the realization of the original project plans, but all partners are contributing to make things happen: from November 22 to 26, project coordinator UPC together with the other European training providers, AEI Textils, CIAPE, and UNIWA managed to set up a five-day programme of extra-training for staff from BAU, ESITH, JUST. This second capacity building week included a LEGO® Serious Play® session in order to outline the structure and services offered by the advanced textiles centres that are implemented at the four HEIs premises. Read more about the project activities on the FOSTEX website.

Second Roundtable in Jordan

On November 16, FOSTEX project partner ACI - Amman Chamber of Industry, held the second FOSTEX Roundtable with participants from the local Jordanian textile industry. The roundtable saw the participation of 18 representatives of external stakeholders and all local project partners.

Equipment installed at JUST

Despite the adversities created by the global CoViD-19 pandemic, which caused obstacles and delays in purchasing and delivering of technical supplies, project partner JUST was able to get the equipment for its advanced textile centre just before the Eid al-Adha holiday this summer. Right afterwards installations were completed and presented to the dean of the college.

Additional advanced textile technology training opportunities

Within the framework of the Context initiative, the Higher Education Institutions partnering in FOSTEX are involved in several training activities. The latest was held on December 23: Dr. Adnan Mazari from Technical University of Liberec held the “Workshop on Sewing Needle Heating for Assembly of Smart and Medical Textiles” at JUST.
