Monthly meeting is early this month! 

Mark your calendars for Monday, April 15.

April ClassThis month is a wire-weaving class with Deborah Benninger of I.D. Jewelry and Designs.

If you know wire-weaving – you know Debra.  She has shared her skills with the GRBS previously and you know it will be an exciting class with a beautiful project that incorporates one of Mary Ann Helmond’s beautiful hand-made beads

Peacock Feather Pendant

Kit Fee:  $15.00 for members and $20.00 for non-members

Includes written instructions, copper wires needed to complete the project, crystals, and a lampwork peacock eye feather headpin made by Mary Ann Helmond of MA Beads.
*Note:  The colour of the peacock eye headpin will be green and blue.
Materials to bring:  Ruler, wire cutters, round nose pliers, and a task light (if needed) 
Kit fee will be collected at the door when you check in. The ticket you receive for payment will then be given to the instructor to receive your kit.

Bus Trip - Bead Extravaganza!

Bus TripStill in the works!  Anyone else want to join the fun?
Join us for an awesome day of bead shopping in Toronto. 
Four stores, One Day!
Clear your calendar for Saturday, May 25.
If we can have 25 people commit to this trip we will be able to rent a school bus and the cost will be $30 per person.
  • Leaving at 8:00 am from Stone Road Mall, Guelph
  • Arriving by 10:00 a.m. at John Bead Outlet
  • Visit Bead Dynasty then, Mac Donald Wang - if possible   
  • Leave at 4:00 p.m. from BeadFX
  • Returning to Guelph at approximately 6:00 pm (depending on traffic)
The shops we will visit are: Payment - a deposit of $15 is due at the March meeting with the final payment of $15 due at the April meeting OR If you wish you can pay $30 in full on either of those days.  
After the April meeting we will know whether we can make this trip work.
We must pay for bus in advance. 
Payment can be made by cash, VISA/MC or bank e-transfer - payee
If the trip does not move forward, all monies will be returned.  

Native Beading at the Guelph Museum

If you would like to experience a class in Native beading with Naomi Smith don’t miss this opportunity at the Guelph Museum April 14.  Naomi is teaching a one-day class on the Native Strawberry Emery, using seed beads with silk and velvet.

This is part of the Indianized Exhibit curated by Naomi.   Indianized presents beadworks by Naomi and other contemporary artists, which reflect traditional Native beading techniques and imagery. 
It’s at the Museum until May 19.  Don’t miss it!

Creative Festival

Anyone going to the Creative Festival this weekend?
Always a blast - there will be bead and jewellery supplies of course - but it's wonderful to see the quilters, knitters, sewers, felters, scrap-bookers and more.  Lots of Demos and Make & Takes, and every craft supply you can think of!
