The girl in the middle, with the plaid vest, yellow shirt, and serious stare, is named Purity.
This is her story.
Purity was born in April, 2005. She never knew her Father, but her mother kept her and loved her. Very shortly after Purity was born, her mother married.
At seven months old, Purity's life would change forever.
Her mother's new husband, in anger and rage over a domestic dispute, attempted to take Purity's life by slamming her small body on the floor and crushing her legs.
Purity would then be rushed to her great-grandmother by a nearby villager who heard the commotion. Her great-grandmother took her to a hospital where they discovered, along with other damage, both of her legs were broken. She would spend 3 months in the hospital and during that time her mother would leave her, never to return.
From then until 2013, Purity's great-grandmother would care for her. Near the end of 2013, her great-grandmother left Purity in the care of a relative who had no means to feed or care for her.
Because of Purity's situation, Linus and his wife have taken Purity in and are caring for her as their own. They provide for her, feed her, and teach her about Jesus.
Purity's story is hard to hear.
Even more difficult to hear is that her story is one of many much like it.
Thankfully, we serve a God who rescues, and He is using Christlike Academy and Feed.Teach.Hope. in the Kenyan slums of Misiri to make His goodness and glory known.
