Our Family in Kenya

God is a sending God.
He sent Jesus to rescue us, then Jesus sent the disciples out to tell the world about Him, and we, too, are sent to proclaim the goodness and grace extended to us by a loving God through Jesus.

God sends all kinds of people out to be conduits for his work. In His sovereignty he places each of us in specific places at specific times so that we press forward in serving Him and making His name known.

Sometimes, the most overlooked and under-appreciated person God uses is a wife and a mother.
There is often not much worldly glory in faithfully serving God in this role; in coming alongside and loving a husband who is flawed, and in the hard work it takes to raise children who are often difficult and testing.
Yet, in this role there is tremendous beauty. A quiet beauty that often needs no loud voice to proclaim its value; a strong beauty that withstands trials; a long-suffering beauty that works through complex problems that take years to solve; and a humble beauty that pours out its heart and rarely asks for much in return. It's no coincidence that God designed women to complement men in so many ways.

We are thankful to say that our pastor in Limuru; Linus, has a wife who is just like this.
We are blessed to have her beside Linus; supporting him, raising their children, serving the people of the community, working a daily job, and ministering to those around them in need.

Friends, meet Liz Kirimi:

Liz was born in Nyeri, in a village named Gitathini. She grew up in a home with 14 siblings and two wonderful parents who loved Jesus very much.
In 2000 she met Linus, and they were married in August of 2003. Linus and Liz have two children; Felix (11) and Joshua (8). Liz is currently working for Wayland Baptist University as the Kenya Program Coordinator situated in Kijabe.
We asked Liz to share a bit about herself:
"I am so thankful that God created me a woman, though it is sometimes hectic for me to balance family and work issues. Being a wife, especially a Pastor's wife, I try as much as possible to ensure that ministry responsibilities are not overtaking family time, doing this requires the hand and grace of God.
I believe God has called me to serve my family as a mother and wife and the community around me as a Christian. I am always thankful that God's grace has been so sufficient."
When Liz finds free time, she enjoys reading, cooking (she makes wonderful food!), and travelling.

On our trips to Kenya we are able to spend time with Linus and Liz. The joy, peace, and laughter that Liz brings to our visits is such a blessing to us.

Thank you Liz, for all that you do.

Friends, please help us reach our goal this year of providing financial support for Linus and Liz Kirimi as they oversee the slum school in Limuru and as Linus trains and sends out church planters.
You can help make Jesus known all across Kenya.
