Specifically for women only, these dates are reservation-only for those interested in discovering the joy and often misunderstood world of exploring the woods and the outdoors. Too often, the woods and hiking create fear, partly because people lack the skills to understand and to be empowered by it. They are literally life skills, and that learning can create immense joy and boost confidence in unimaginable ways. This time, put your passions and curiosity first on this exciting trip into the woods and nature of Central PA. |

Learnings from Trails & Waterways:
What is a Private Trip? Are all Trips Guided? |
 |
By being Private, we mean the trip is only for you and your group, if there is one.
No one on your trip is someone you don’t know. (Unless that’s what you want!) This, we found, removes fear and concerns which show up when something’s unfamiliar.
Guided? You’ll always have a professional guide and expert in your chosen adventure. They manage the time and destinations, safety and teach the skills. And, most importantly, they create the space and time for you to get out of it what you want and need.
Both Private and Guided lie at the heart and soul of why we started the company. From our past jobs, we always felt that what people needed most was the chance and time to crack open their own needs. Mostly, it was rare for them to find it. |
 |
Giving you a chance to nourish and self-discover yourself, for yourself, is so important.
Often, though, instead of seeking this out, we all look for things. So, we buy second homes, chase a new job or career, or buy that boat we’ve been eyeing. But, none settle that craving and that need for long. That’s not to say that adding that dreamy new fly rod and gear isn’t satisfying, however!
By getting into the woods and on the waterways, or your hands on a rock or in the water, you connect with yourself and nature in ways that nothing else can.
You can’t really resist it. It just happens.

Meals, Takibi Style!
From fresh, gourmet sandwiches six months ago to, now, full-on trailside cooked meals, we’ve redefined our food experience from what you’ve said you want. Getting out of the city and suburban streets of home to venture into the woods, onto the water, climbing a rock or whatever the choice, it sure does make the planned meal taste extra amazing. Chicken and steak are always favorites, and more and more people are picking the vegetarian options. |
|
|
|
The vegetables, cheeses and breads we pick, bake or find at the local farmer’s markets, or our gardens, are making such a big difference. Salads, mushrooms, and a fresh loaf of bread, yum! Amazing!
Grilling takes time, especially because we use wood, not propane or charcoal, but it’s worth every bite you waited for. As much as possible, we want everything you eat to taste like you imagined. It’s the wood embers, combined with simple seasoning and homemade marinade that brings out those exquisite tastes.
Add a fresh table linen, tableware from our Takibi partner, Snowpeak, and the awning and comfy chairs out of our Toyota Rigs, and you can relax and regale your group with your favorite stories. Whether only you and a significant other, a group of friends, your dog, or your family, great food and drinks make for the best experiences. |

Tell Me More:
Hiking & Climbing, Kayaking |
 |
But, Now What? And, “How Do I?”
You’ve been trying new getaways and found new favorite spots, and you realized the outdoors and nature is what’s missing in your life.
Congratulations!
The Wall Street Journal’s investigations did the same work we did: 200 minutes a week changes us, chemically. It sounds like a lot, but then you do the quick math and realize you spend that much time running your weekend errands.
Ok, but what comes next? We ask you a few questions that you may be surprised by. Instead of where to go and what to do, we suggest starting with yourself and what you need. |
 |
So many choices, but how about some of these?
Maybe, it’s silence and no noise.
How about the sound of quiet or even rushing water to clear your mind? How about that journal with all of the dated empty pages?
Or, to be together with that someone you’ve been wanting to have a conversation with. Or, maybe you can make the time to be just a little uncomfortable and try something new.
And, then when you’ve decided what you need to do for you, take a few minutes to consider the possibilities.
A few to spark your interest... |

I Heard it in the Wind: Nature Discoveries
Connections in Nature |
“I feel like the forest has a secret.”
– Anna, age 14
“Seeing my favorite tree relaxes me every time, even if I drive by it every day.”
– Dad, age 59
“I climbed 40 feet, and I feel so incredibly proud of myself.”
– Woman, age 42
People create their own poetry without even knowing it. While it may not be constructed to be interpreted as the author intended, or it rambles in different emotions, it’s still real. Still genuine.
A few of our other favorite poets are likely some of yours – Emily Dickinson, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Mary Oliver and lots of new poets most haven’t heard from, yet. They will soon, we’re betting. Here’s one we’re loving this fall, along with a photo, mixed up with different emotions as only this poet can inspire. |

Spacious Skies
Christian Lewisberry |
Rights and lefts.
Too touch, maybe?
Down is too, too.
Yearning for space, an
Illusion seeking us.
Whoosh, jump and miss;
Burned and yearned.
Unrelenting.
Danger, vehement whispered.
Celestial infinite grip;
Blessed reached,
Discovered.
Spacious,
Reigns. |

Throwback Series:
Get Lost! |
|
|
If you’re under 21, time passed you by for a moment that would have saved you such anxiety and struggles. Imagine, no GPS. There might have been someone riding shotgun giving you the turns, but it was your sister or your friend.
Imagine, getting lost was intentional! It was practice for learning direction and how to get somewhere. Someone, then, said to go drive somewhere. Get lost: you’ll figure it out. But, first, journeys started with a map, spread out on the hood, looking at your destination and figuring out how to get there. |
 |
If we keep the GPS for figuring out those turns you can’t find or how much time is left on the trip, or where to meet someone for lunch, perfect! But knowing where you should go when you run into that two-hour backup, it’s best to have the knowledge (and a map?) and the GPS!
Oh, find that compass when you first bring the car home. It’ll save you from frustration, wasted time, an angry Aunt Mary, and missing out on that amazing lasagna your Nona made for you. |

Teen Summer Camp, 2021
Goals determine what we’re going to do, and getting young people into nature and the wild, changes them. We see it and hear it. It’s so fascinating. Many have lost motivation and anxiety levels are high from the past year. But, hiking in the woods, or playing scavenger hunts, and using games to learn the names of unfamiliar faces makes it easier.
