Wisconsin Parental Choice Program Application Enrollment

 *2 Weeks Left to Apply!* Deadline is April 15th
Applying is very easy and the funds received through the program greatly benefit our students and school. The Wisconsin Parental Choice Program is an amazing chance for families to receive a tuition-free education at Emanuel! Please apply if you have a child going into grades 4K, 5K, or 1st Grade. Emanuel Lutheran Mask Survey
With the WI Supreme Court striking down the mask mandate last week, the Emanuel Coordinating Council will be discussing at next Monday’s Council meeting (4/12) what Emanuel’s mask policy will be for the rest of the school year. 

To avoid confusion and uncertainty regarding mask-wearing, the Emanuel Coordinating Council has decided at this time that Emanuel will continue with the masking guidelines that were in place during the mandate until the Coordinating Council has had an opportunity to discuss this further. 

Al Tank, Emanuel’s Executive Director, is asking parents to fill out this quick 4 question survey. This survey will not determine whether Emanuel continues with masks through the rest of the school year or not, but will serve to better inform the Council where current Emanuel Lutheran School parents stand on this issue.

Scrip Credit for Next School Year - deadline April 30th

All scrip orders purchased by May 1st will be applied to the 2021-22 school year. Please get all your orders in by April 30th. Starting May 1st the scrip credit will be applied to the 2022-23 school year. Any questions, please contact the office.

Parents, please don’t send your child to school if they are showing any symptoms of sickness. Several illnesses, other than COVID, have been showing up here at Emanuel, and we want to do our best to continue to stay open. Unfortunately, many of the symptoms we’ve been seeing are similar to COVID-19 symptoms, which include fever/chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea. We do not want to inadvertently send someone home for a COVID test and have them quarantine until the results are back.

If your child is exhibiting any of these symptoms here at school, they will be sent home until they are symptom free. They also won’t be able to participate in athletics that day.

Emanuel Annual Pizza-making Event (Tentative)
The leadership at Emanuel (both church and school) is exploring the feasibility and possibility of holding Emanuel’s annual pizza-making event on Saturday, May 15th. No firm decisions have been made at this time, but discussions are ongoing. COVID safety precautions would be in place, but a key component is the volunteers. In order for the day to happen at all, we need to ensure we have a firm commitment from our volunteers before orders would be collected. Volunteers can be 7th graders and older. Both a morning and afternoon shift would be implemented this year, with at least 70 volunteers needed for each shift. 

Even if the decision is made to have the event, if we don’t have enough volunteers for the day, we will not be holding our pizza-making event this year.

Worship Livestream Schedule Change
Starting this weekend, Emanuel’s live-streamed service will move from Thursday’s to Saturday’s. If you prefer to worship online, you’ll be able to find our services on Facebook Live or on our church website on Saturday night at 5:15pm. We will continue to have in-person worship opportunities Thursday’s, Saturdays, Sundays, and a Monday’s. Please contact the office with any questions. 

Grades 3-8 Standardized Testing - April 12 
Students in grades 3-8 will be taking the ACT Aspire Standardized Tests for Math, Reading, English, Science, and Writing starting next week. Students should get a good night’s sleep and eat a good breakfast to help them do their best. Results will be available sometime this summer.

Earbuds - 3rd-8th Grade Testing
Please make sure your child has a pair of headphones or earbuds at school for our ACT Aspire testing coming up. If this will be an issue, please let Mr. Schauland know so that arrangements can be made.  

Volleyball Game Volunteers Needed

Parking Lot/Playground Gates
Parents, if you notice that the parking lot gates haven’t been opened by 2:55 PM, and there are no students currently playing on the parking lot or playground, you may open the three sets of gates and chain them in place to allow entrance into the parking lot. If you have any questions, please contact the office. 

WOHW 2nd Painting Event - April 17th
All women are invited....children ages 4 and up with an adult assisting are also welcome. Children must sit with the adult they come with. This will take place on April 17th from approximately 8am to 11am. Enter through the doors by the playground (Door 9). Only 1 time slot is available for this event. The cost is $5 per person to cover materials and  will take place in the Commons. The project will take (approximately) 2.5 hrs with a short devotion. 
Group size will be limited to a max of 25 to allow for distancing. Supplies will be provided. Robin Glocke will be leading this 12x12 canvas, customizable project. You can choose your style of colors. Make for yourself or make it a gift for someone else! Let's have fun and learn something new together! Please note, no refreshments will be offered, however we will provide bottled water. Please sign up with this link. 
Hunter’s Education Course
Classes will be held on April 8, 22, 24, 26, 29, May 1 & 3rd.  Students will need to have a DNR customer number before registering for the class.  DNR customer numbers and registration can be done on the DNR website:   You may also call the DNR at 1-888-936-7463 between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm, seven days a week. This is a lifetime number and will cost you nothing.  Registration will continue through April 8th or until the class is full.  All classes will be held in the Emanuel School commons.  The first night, April 8, (registration night) will be held in the school music room instead of the commons.  Please use door #9.  Click here for more details.  Call Dean Spears at 920-843-0589 with questions. 

Fang Reading Program
Participation in the program is optional. Students participating can log time to meet their reading goal. Please look for information from your classroom teacher about your goals.  Students meeting the goal for the contest earn a free Timber Rattler ticket and a meal voucher for a free game at the Timber Rattlers. Please Note:  For this year, there will be no ELS Family Game Night.  You will be able to attend any game you like with your free voucher.

Bumpin’ Bulldogs Volleyball Skills Camp
New London High School is putting together a volleyball camp for grades 4-8 grade. This will be held June 7-11, 2021 at the New London High School gym. There will be two sessions. First session will be grades 4-6 from 12:00-1:30. Second session will be grades 7-8 from 1:45-3:45. (The grades are as of 2020-21 school year) Please click this link for more information. 

Dale/Medina/Readfield (DMR) Softball League
Registration is now open. Registration is due April 30th and no later. This league is for grades K through 12th grade. This is the grade you will be going into for the 2021-22 school year. 4th Quarter Mission Opportunity
Emanuel School’s mission for 4th quarter is The Apache Mission.
The Apache Mission celebrated 125 years of God’s blessings in 2018 as the first world mission of WELS. The Apache Mission is located in eastern Arizona on the Fort Apache Reservation and the San Carlos Apache Reservation. Between the two reservations there are eight churches, one preaching station, and two Lutheran elementary schools. The Apache Lutheran churches are currently training future leaders for work as evangelists, teachers, and pastors through the Apache Christian Training School (ACTS) located at the East Fork Mission.

FVL Foxes Grade School Cheer Camp
Any girl in 5K through grade 8 is welcome to attend. This will be held on April 17th in two sessions. First session will be 8:00 am - 12:00 pm for 5K - 4th grade. Second session will be 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm for 5-8 grades. The cost is $25 per participant. Please click on this link for details. 
Take It to the Rim Basketball Camp
The Take It To The Rim Basketball Camp is open to all boys and girls going into grades 7-12 in the fall of 2021. The camp will be held on Thursday, July 15 from 8 AM-5:30 PM. The cost is $75 per participant. Registration is open through July 1. Questions? Contact Coach Jay Wendland.  

Appleton Saints Football
Boys and girls entering grades 6-8 in the fall of 2021 are welcome to join the Appleton Saints Football team, a new combined team with athletes from FVL and Xavier. Practices begin August 2. The team will practice 3-5 times per week. The first game is set for August 21. The cost to participate is $100. A late registration fee will apply to registrations received after May 23. Questions? Fall Cheer & Stunt Open Gyms & Tryouts 
Tryouts for the Varsity Football Cheer Team will be held June 7, 9, & 10. To prepare for tryouts, five open gyms will be held (April 25, May 16, May 30, June 6, & June 27) from 5:30-7 PM. FVL FoxFest Annual Dinner Auction
Fox Valley Lutheran High School would like to invite all FVL Federation members to attend FVL’s FoxFest Annual Dinner Auction on Friday, April 23, 2021, at Liberty Hall in Kimberly, WI, or to join us for our virtual event online. FVL Schools Executive Assistant Needed
Fox Valley Lutheran Schools is hiring an Executive Assistant. This position works directly with the FVL Schools Director of Curriculum and the Executive Committee, assisting in many different areas, such as--but not limited to--communications, event coordination, and record keeping. Base pay starts at $15/hr with the final wage determined by education and experience. Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Drive are needed.
