Alej Ez
The exhibition of Alej ez’ work at the West Pier Centre took place in autumn 2019 and ended last January. Alej ez writes that since the pandemic started ‘I have spent most of the time cocooned in my art studio. My architectural training is clear in my prints with a delicate and precise use of line to convey structures and form. The use of block colour strengthens the emotional sense that has often been described as serene and peaceful. I feel fortunate to have a studio in central Brighton. All year I have been working on new prints, and this without doubt has kept me sane.
My latest two prints ‘Morning Walk Sea Promenade Brighton and Hove’ a ‘Brighton and Hove Alphabet’ celebrates the people, places and heritage of our loved city. These two prints showcase the West Pier as an integral part of our city. For more information visit www.alejez.com or contact me at aljguez@gmail.com

Lisa Holdcroft
Lisa’s West Pier Centre exhibition featured a brilliant drawing of the West Pier in its heyday.

Since her West Pier exhibition Lisa writes that ‘At the start of the first lockdown, I decided, on a whim to draw the London theatres. This subject seemed to suit the drama of the moment, and I felt so sorry for all of the vibrant and creative people who were suddenly out of a job. There are 40 traditional theatres in the West End. They are as beautiful and unique as precious jewels, and London wouldn't be the same without them. I have gathered the illustrations together in one image, which I have had manufactured into a beautiful tea towel.’

A perfect gift for any theatre lover, the tea towel can be ordered here: www.etsy.com The online shop also sells Lisa’s Christmas cards and other Brighton-themed gifts.

Alex Bamford
Alex writes that ‘My Horizons project was shot over 2 years culminating with my exhibition at the West Pier Centre. It comprised of multiple shots of the West Pier, in all weathers and times of day and night, shot from exactly the same spot on the beach where the posts lined up with the horizon. Most of my projects are shot locally to me so fortunately lockdown hasn’t limited them. Recently I have been focusing on my Collections, specifically documenting the vast array of Covid floor vinyls in Brighton’s shops and arranging them into grids on the page. Very different in scale to the West Pier but still with a graphic element.’ www.alexbamford.com
John Brockliss
'Shoreline', our current exhibition of marine landscape photographs by photographer John Brockliss, re-opened  on Saturday 5 December and runs until Saturday 17 January. Featuring locations from across the UK, the Shoreline Collection provides a special focus on our popular Sussex shores and of course features Brighton's West Pier. John's three photo-documentary books and a supporting range of greetings cards are also on sale at the exhibition.

In 34 limited-edition prints, John's dramatic images capture moments of natural wonder when tide, time, light and the passing season combine to capture the majesty of our island shores.

Although it’s not in the current exhibition, John has provided this wonderful seasonal photograph, ‘Winter Promenade’, for the newsletter www.johnbrockliss.com
