Hari Om!
Happy Easter!  Happy Spring!
I am so joyful at the moment as the last couple of days have been proper Spring days and Nick and I even managed to get a day on the hills....long over due.  So hope you are finding time to do the things you enjoy.
Preparations are mad here as I head of to India soon to run the two week yoga and ayurveda retreats.  Am so excited as this is a new venture and I had no idea I would be doing this when I packed up working for Severn Trent.  Isn't life amazing how its path takes you if you allow it!

This newsletter has been done in haste to make sure you are all aware of the class timetable over the next few weeks and a reminder of the trips I have coming up.  Seem to be adding to those all the time!

Last weekend was the annual retreat weekend at Wortley was fabulous even if I say so myself.  The energy, sharing, supporting, laughter and great practices done from the heart...all made me a little emotional during the last session!!!  But, I have another weekend there in July and have booked for March 2018.  Along with Everest this October, Peru next June and possibly Japan (perhaps South Korea on the end!!!) next year too.  Who knows, if India goes well we could be doing that again.  So exciting.  Loving all the support and fun along the way.

Those of you able to come to class regularly will have heard a little about the personal journey I have been on with Ayurveda.  I am hopeful that you will get to know about this health system as the year progresses. It has been so helpful to me so far.

We have a workshop day booked for August 5th - yoga, tea and origami!  My lovely friend Sachiko is coming over from Japan and will be running the retreat at Wortley in July with me and also this workshop.  We will be sharing a little Nepalese yoga and self healing along with traditional Japanese culture.  Do book early as places are filling quickly.

Please continue to visit my website more regularly,, as I will be putting much more into the resources page on there.  Not just yoga practices and thoughts, but also things about food, Ayurveda, general health, gardening, wildlife, walking...anything that I find that may inspire us!  Hopefully it will become a great resource for us all.

So a quick catch up on all that has been going on:

The silver tin in class gave another £87 in March.  This money will go to the village to help with the school I think.  Jenni Pizer is there at the moment and will have a better idea of what is needed most.  She and I are also planning at trip to Nepal next year which will include going to Kanti Hospital in Kathmandu, up to the village to stay in the homestay and learn about village life, cooking, helping with women projects and a short trek.  Will keep you posted on that one!

The Christmas Craft Fayre for Nepal will be held on November 26th in Darley Abbey Village Hall.  If you would like a table, can make us cakes or offer help on the day I would truly appreciate it.  Send me an email.  We are also collecting new unwanted items for the tombola and raffle.
Yoga Day/Retreat Reminders:

28th - 30th July 2017 - Wortley Hall Retreat - the Summer retreat this year is being held at Wortley and I am running it along with my dear friend Sachiko from Japan.  If you are interested in joining us please let me know as there are only four rooms left.  If you have told me you would like to come I do need deposits off you.  There will be a lovely mix of classical hatha yoga, Nepalese influenced yoga, chanting and meditation, along with Japanese influences as well.  We are keen to use outside space and really connect to Nature.  Our continued theme is friendship.

5th August 2017 - Yoga, Tea, Origami - I will be running this day with my friend Sachiko from Japan.  We met in Nepal as our mutual friend is Devika.  The yoga will be a Himalayan mix!  Sachi will be giving us a Japanese tea ceremony and will teach us the beautiful art of origami with mantra.  The cost of the day is £35, 10am to 3.30pm.  It will be bring your own lunch but all tea will be provided.  I am hopeful we may even be able to provide vegan Japanese nibbles but will see.  Please book and pay in advance as it is already filling.

19th October - 12th November 2017 - Everest Base Camp - if you have ever thought you would like to go to Base Camp, why not join Nick and I?  Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be suggesting this, but the opportunity has arisen so lets do it!  The itinerary has been set by Binay Lama, his company Sacred Himalaya will be looking after us.  His brother will be our guide as Binay is organising the Nepal Marathon at the same time we will be there.  We will spend 16 days trekking and two days in the village.  If you are interested please email me and I will forward more detail.

26th November 2017 - the annual Christmas Craft Fayre for Nepal.  If you want a table, to help, to make cakes or can give raffle presents then please get in touch!

16th -  18th March 2018 - the annual Spring Yoga Retreat at Wortley Hall.  This is a weekend of pure indulgence to yourself for mind, body and spirit.  The space is special and the support and sharing that naturally happens is so energising.  Please do book early on as I have limited the number of rooms so we fit comfortably into the yoga room! Further details here and if you want to reserve a place do email me.

16th June 2018 - I am just putting this out there in case anyone wants to join us!  We will be travelling to Peru June 2018 trekking Cordillera Huayhuash with Val Pitkethly.  She is an authority on the region and also runs LED which we have given money to for Nepal (solar lighting).  If you are a regular walker and fancy it here are the details.

Glamping in Wales - if you fancy some time away on your own, please consider my dads Shepherds Hut.  He is taking bookings now.  It is a perfect location to be in during spring and summer and is SO very cosy with the wood burner on.  And its peaceful.  Why not visit at Easter and enjoy the Spring.  Lots of swallows visit him.   Full details here.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being part of my yoga circle and contributing in so many ways.  It is such a pleasure to have you in the circle.

Sending you love, joy and peace.

Jenni Pizer is in Nepal and this bag is full of things needed to help make another 200 sanitary towel kits that you have helped provide.
A huge thank you as it does make such a difference.
The class silver tin in February raised £117 and in March a further £87 was raised.  Thanks so much.
In total there is £542 in the bank and it will be used for either women's health or school building or supplies.  There is also a request from ladies and girls in the village that they have their own toilet, to make things easier during menstration.  Jenni will let us know on her return.

28th to 30th July 2017
Wortley Hall, South Yorkshire
I am so excited about this weekend as Sachiko will be also teaching at it.  The format will follow the Spring retreat, but Sachi will bring her Japanese and Nepalese influence into the teachings.  My group met Sachi in Nepal last year and all were taken with her gentle but powerful approach to teaching.  She has such a wonderful voice for mantra as well.
There are only 4 rooms left so if you are interested please do contact me for details or complete this form.

Fancy a break in beautiful Wales - off grid?

If you have ever fancied staying in an authentic shepherds hut, now you can!  My dad has built this one as a replica of what he had as a young man...a long time ago!  It has a single bed, a log burner (very cosy when on), and is situated in a field close to the house for toilet and bath.  There is no mains electricity in the hut, but you can charge things in the house or from a solar charger.

It is an ideal spot to meditate; practice yoga; be completely with nature; to write, paint, relax; go for walks.
There is more information here, or email me to book.
Trekking to Everest Base Camp

If you have dreamt of going to Everest Base Camp, but not allowed yourself to do so, maybe now is the time!  Nick and I are going and we thought it would be great for Binay (whose village you've all been helping to rebuild) if we could earn him more money!  He won't be able to guide us, but his brother will and he is almost as entertaining as Binay.  We will be taking a longer route than normal so we can go via the Chola Pass.  This means we get to spend time at Gokyo Lakes...which are stunning and we have a rest day there too.
The dates are 19th Oct to 12th Nov....if you would like more information do send me an email and I will forward the details on.  I am still making it all look 'pretty' and removing Binays spelling errors!!  It will go onto my website as well...soon.
Yoga Practices

I was so hoping to record a physical yog apractice for you...but not with todays voice!!!
So, I have been having a little look for myself these last few weeks...feeling lazy and wanting to be guided.  Here are a couple links on You Tube you may fancy.

Nancy Ruby - morning gentle wake up routine
Deva Premal - Om Tara Tuttare - This was a mantra we did in a couple of classes during March...a mantra for healing, protection, prosperity
Pam Smith - pelvic floor practice....essential for all of us!

In February I did a couple of masterclasses and promised recordings of the yoga nidras.  Although I did record them both - thre was so much coughing going on I felt I couldnt send them out!
But I have recorded one of them...and it is hopefully attached Crystal Mountain Yoga Nidra.
The other recording is of the Temple Breath - a simple breathing practice to help energise you or help you wind down...depending on how you approach it!

Spiced Honey

Some you know I am following a Ayurvedic health programme at the moment...and I intend it to be a life long change for me.  In January I completely changed my eating habits and have been making other life changes along the way.  All has been going so well until I developed a throat infection last weekend - resulting in me looising my voice on Friday!!!  Much to many people's delight I am sure!!
Anyway, I have made Spiced Honey...and it is working a treat on me.  If you are allowed to eat honey I can recommend it.
Please never overheat honey as it looses all its medicinal properties.  And only use RAW unpasturised honey as it has all the health benefits in it.  Local honey is also best for us.
To a 1/4 lb of honey add the following: 1/2 tsp ground cardamon, 1 tsp ground black pepper; 1 tbsp ground ginger; 1 tsp ground cinnamon.  Mix it all well and keep in a sealed jar, using a clean spoon to remove when needed.  I have been having in warm water with a slice of lime.  Also wonderful added to porridge.  (Must admit that I just made a pound jar full!)
