Hari Om!
Welcome to November..
Namaste everyone...
Really hope this finds you well and staying warm.  Its a little chilly out there as I write but the colour of the morning sun on the trees is awesome.  Hoping to get out for a walk in the Peak District tomorrow to clear away the cobwebs.
It's coming up to a very busy time of year for us all and I do hope you can find a little time of respite for you.  So important to each day to take 15mins of quiet, still time.  To meditate or reflect...whatever works for you.  I've been reading about how, from our actions and thoughts, we create illness in our physical as well as mental and emotional bodies.  This is something Ive been interested in, believed since being a child. So, please take care over this busy time and make time for you.  A couple of practices at the end of this newsletter may just make you have some time out!

The BIG thing this month is our Craft Fayre for Nepal on November 27th.  There are more details below.  But, if you would like to know who is coming along, details of all the stall holders can be found here.  Not everyone has a website but some can be found on facebook.  Or look at our facebook page Derbyshire Unites for Nepal as we are trying to get photos on there!!  Just to wet your appetite!!  Please try and come along..and tell your friends.  Loads of lovely things for Christmas presents.

I wasn't going to count the silver tin until the end of this month...since there were only two weeks of classes in October.  But following sales at the Meditation class last Saturday....and the resulting weight of it...I counted up this morning and there was another £100 in it!!!!  Massive thank you to everyone.

Yoga Day Reminders:

The theme for 2017 is around Friendship.

Fancy a break in beautiful Wales - off grid?

My dad has recently completed making an authentic shepherds hut...just like the one he had as a young man...a long time ago!  It has a single bed (very comfy as I ordered the mattress and bedding!), a log burner (very cosy when on), and is situated in a field close to the house for toilet and bath.  There is no mains electricity in the hut but you can charge things in the house or from a solar charger.

It is an ideal spot to meditate; practice yoga; be completely with nature; to write, paint, relax; go for walks.
There is more information here, or email me to book.

1st to 9th April 2017 and
8th to 16th April 2017

2 spaces available on both weeks.

This luxury retreat, to Northern Kerala, India, includes 7 days hermitage stay and is ideal for those that want to dip into the sea or infinity pool; to practice restorative yoga and meditation either in the Patanjali Hall or on the beach; to experience 5 ayurveda treatments; be surrounded by unspoilt nature.
To discuss or book your place please contact me.  Full details on the whole trip can be found here.
And if you are wondering why I have chosen this venue, above all others, have a look at Slow Life.
Yoga for Sleep
I'm often asked what can be done to help us sleep.  The list is endless but finding out what is stopping you sleeping would be good, and then working out what to change to allow you to sleep.
A couple of things that may help - Yoga and Ayurveda and Yoga for Relieving Stress and Aiding Sleep
Let me know how you get on.
This is one of my favourite mantras and very easy to learn.  I've included the information on it here but also a You Tube link to Deva Premal a couple of different ways of repeating it.  Watch the video as it gives you some more translations.
If you want something very different, and I need to listen to this,...Tina Turner is also recording mantras!
Christmas Cake

Many of you know I LOVE fruit cake.
So, having just made our Christmas cake, I thought I would share the recipe.  It does carry a health warning though, as it is full of alcohol, sugar and butter!!
