Hari Om!
Welcome to March....love this month....will be another year wiser....yippee!
The other reason is that it is getting very close to our trip to Nepal, my first visit in two years, and it is so special this time as 9 yogis are coming with me.  Really am excited....think they are too!

Due to the Nepal trip and Nick wanting to spend time with me, (bless him!),  April is going to be a little mixed for classes.  See the bright box below and make a note of the dates!  I will keep reminding you.  I must say that you are an amazing group and I am so grateful that you continue to find classes of use and interest.  Thank you for your continued support.

In December and January I sent alot of money to Nepal that was used to buy blankets and quilts.  They have had a particularly cold winter.  Here is a report from Quake Quilts that gives an idea of how one distribution run to the village went.

During February I have been attempting to teach you (again!) Surya Namaskar...Sun Salutation.  When I first went to yoga I found this really difficult as no-one every gave me a picture or wrote it down...days before google and me having a computer!  I love this sequence and there is a version for you to print off right at the bottom of this newsletter.  A ploy to make you read to the end!!!  If you want the seated version, or the no wrists version...let me know and I will email it to you.

A massive thank you to Anne White for her lovely blanket and Carole Beavis for willow duck...the raffle raised £233.

The next raffle looks like it will be for a Simnel Cake....donated and made by Joan Keating.  Delicious!!!  I will have raffle tickets with me so please don't miss out.  Am always happy to raffle things!  The more we can take with us in April the better.

Thank you to everyone who has donated items for us to take to the school in Nuwacot.  Am working on how to carry it all .... and all the medical stuff Simon has for us for the children's hospital in Kathmandu.

Thanks to everyone who keep me supplied in recipes to share here.  Keep bringing them in...Nick and I love trying them out.

I have a lot on this month, some things I have never done before.  One is the Shamanic Yoga day with Leah Bracknell on March 13th.  It was so popular we have arranged another date for May 22nd...if you want to join it there are only 3 spaces left.  Book via Leah's website.

Bookings for my luxury yoga and ayurveda holiday to Kerala, India April 2017, are filling fast, only two spaces remain... read more>>
I am hugely excited about this trip as it combines yoga and ayurveda in a beautiful setting.  Keep your eyes peeled...Ann and I have more ideas!!

Yoga and Astrology Retreat Weekend at Willersley Castle, Cromford, Derbyshire 29th July 2016 ... places are filling fast so do let me have your deposit if you are intending in joining us... read more >>

Fundraising for Nepal continues...we are helping a school called Chandra Jyoti and it is located at a village called Chhetri Gaon in the Nuwacot region.  We will visit it in April.  We are also trying to riase enough money to build another home in Bhimkhori.
One of the ladies coming with me to Nepal is running a half marathon....you can sponsor her here!

A HUGE thank you for all your support in so many ways.
Sending you love, joy and peace.

Yoga and Willow Weaving
21st and 22nd May 2016

A weekend of retreat and fun to help raise funds for Nepal.

21st May - I have a lovely room booked and am thinking of a retreat/pamper day.  Join us for a pamper session, meditation and relaxation.  There will be a morning and afternoon programme.
If you are a therapist and would like to be involved do let me know...you could do the whole day or either morning or afternoon.  It is a open space so not lots of privacy.

22nd May - Carole Beavis and I are running a day of learning to weave willow to make a small item and practice yoga and meditation.  This will be an outdoors event...two of my students own woods...how wonderful is that.  One has a toilet too!

All the plans for both days are in their infancy and I will have more detail by April.
Really hope you can put in your diaries though.

There will be Nepali items for sale, raffle,  and maybe enough cake to enjoy with a cuppa.

Fundraising for Nepal

Can you help us raise £5K by April 6th?

March is going to be a busy month as we prepare to visit Nepal and raise as much money as possible to take with us for the school and house build.
Dani is looking forward to her run in the half marathon - despite the altitude!  If you can share the link below to help us raise funds that would be fantastic.  If you can donate a fiver that would be super cool!

This beautiful blanket donated by Anne White has been won by Victoria Oxley.  She was overjoyed, speechlees in fact.  Am so happy it has gone to someone who will really treasure and enjoy using it.

The willow duck, donated by Carole Beavis has been won by Olwen Boe...who was really happy with him.  Not sure I pictured his best side...he does have a little attitude!
If you would like to learn how to make one see below.

A massive thank you to everyone who took part in the raffle....it raised £233.

Diana's Vegan Chocolate Cake
We all like a little cake from time to time.  Homemade is so much nicer and this is a really simple recipe.  It is a vegan recipe but you could use butter if you are not vegan.  Let me know how you get on!  Recipe here.
Celeriac, Mushroom, Tomato Lasagne
Jo Peace gave me this link for this delicious lasagne.  Really is tasty.  I used fresh spinach and I was generous with the celeriac as I like it too!  Happy eating! And cooking! Lasagne Recipe

Surya Namaskar
Over the last month we have been working with Surya Namaskar...Sun Salutation.  There are many variations, but I have tried to share the original as I learnt it.  The sheet here gives you the sequence (including the version without the astanga pose), and also indicates the chakra being energised and the bija mantra.  There is no meaning to this seed mantra, its use is to add vibration and energy.  This mantra sheet gives you more information if you really want to learn the mantras.  If you want the seated version we have done in some classes please let me know.
Also, this recording of the mantras is from my teacher Brahmananda if you want to work at pace...6 rounds of Surya Namaskar with two rounds using the long mantras and 4 rounds using the short ones.  Lie in shavasana when you have finished and allow the physical body and breath to settle!
Meditation
Over the weekend of March 11th, 12th and 13th there is an international event happening...from your home.  The idea is that you spend some time, each day if possible, meditating, sending healing loving energy to the Earth, all sentient beings and your self of course.  If you need a little help with this, I have recorded this meditation practice for you.  Here's the
