At last night's meeting, you selected Hospice Kingston as the recipient of our thirteenth group donation and over $20,000!
Since 1985, Hospice Kingston has built a strong foundation of knowledge and experience to support the hundreds of community members who benefit from their practical assistance and emotional support each year. They have a wealth of resources to help people feel as comfortable as possible during difficult times and are there to listen, to support, and to help share the journey every step of the way
18 different charities were nominated by 36 of our members and teams. The first charity that was drawn for voting was The Kingston Humane Society. The Kingston Humane Society was founded in 1884 to provide shelter and care for homeless animals and investigate cases of animal cruelty in Kingston and surrounding communities. They promote responsible pet ownership and compassion and respect for all animals.
Also nominated was The Canadian Mental Health Association - Kingston Chapter. The Canadian Mental Health Association - Kingston Branch is a community-based voluntary organization dedicated to restoring, enhancing and promoting the mental and emotional well-being of all individuals. They strive to do this through public education, advocacy, social action, community development and direct service.
Before voting began, representatives from our last charity recipient, Girls Inc. Limestone took to the podium to share a little about the impact of our group donation.
To date, our membership has grown to 145 individual voting members and 67 teams who count themselves as 1 of 100+! With your support, we've raised over $230,000 since our inaugural meeting in September, 2013!!!
As always, thank you all for your enthusiasm, time and contributions.
See you at our next meeting!
