On the QE2 Story discussion forum you celebrate the life of QE2 by sharing your memories and photos for everyone to enjoy.

But there is so much more to help you celebrate QE2 on the forum!

The forum has 72,000 posts in 4,000 topics mainly about QE2 that you may like to read, so why not take time to search the forum, where you can find  information about QE2's early history in the Design, Concept and Build topics  through to  QE2's final season and voyage (2007/2008)

The virtual webcam – located near the bottom of the index page and on The QE2 Story front page is made up of a collection of a thousand "Best" captures from QE2's real webcam in her last few years of service. It changes each time the page loads.  How cool is that!

There are over 4000 photos in the Forum Gallery Albums where you can enjoy memories from QE2's launch to her arrival in Dubai.

Don’t forget to have a look at The QE2 Story Front Page, which has interesting content that should not be missed.

Introducing the QE2 where you can read many reasons why people believe she was the greatest ship ever.
or QE2’s story since she arrived in Dubai

What better tribute could you give to QE2 than the happy memories shared in the QE2 memories topics that are enjoyed by forum members!  Some ex crew have also found old friends.

The August newsletter reached 1293 readers in over 24 countries.  The most readers were in UK 745, USA 399 and Australia 75.  But you may be interested to know that last month's newsletter was also read in countries including, France, Germany, New Zealand, Switzerland, Canada, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Belgium, South Africa, Iraq, Netherlands, Japan, Ireland, China, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Turkey and Romania.

Thank-you for celebrating QE2
and for keeping the memory of the legend alive!
We are pleased to announce the launch of the QE2 Story event web site where you can find information about the conference.
www.qe2event.com

We would like to thank Marc-Antoine Bombail of MAB Creations, who designed the excellent web page banner heading.   Many of you will have viewed and purchased his products at the QE2's book shop and other Cunard bookshops at sea.

If you are planning to come along to the conference, to celebrate QE2's 50th Anniversary, then keep watching the forum and events web site for booking information.

Tickets will go on sale in January 2017, when we will give forum members the opportunity to buy tickets before they go on sale to the general public.

We announced details of speakers in August when we updated the QE2 50 year event topic.  We will be working with the speakers to ensure that we have an interesting and varied itinerary for all to enjoy.

The Event Committee are pleased to announce that Stephen Payne OBE Naval Architect, who has worked on the design of many ships including QM2 has agreed to chair one of the conference sessions. You may be interested to know that he has been working on the Haynes QE2 Manual, which will be published at the end of November.

Please post in the QE2 50 Year Event 22 September 2017 to let us know what you think about this exciting conference.  We would love to hear from you!

  • By viewing the competition results
  • Voting in the poll for the previous month's competition, see details below for August
  • Submit photos for the current month's competition as detailed below for the September competition
July competition results: I was honoured that forum members choose my photo "QE2 her history started here" as the winner of the July competition QE2 places in history.  Thank-you!  Davina's photo "Maiden call Falkland Islands in 1993" reflected QE2's history and was a worthy runner up.

Keep watching the competition results  to see the winning photos and to add your comments and congratulations.

Voting for the August Photo Competition closes on 1 October so why not take a few minutes to view "QE2 viewed from high places" pictures and vote for your three favourite photos.

September Photo Competition "QE2 External Features": Some fabulous photos have been uploaded to the Photo Competition Album and it is always interesting to see the interpretation of the theme, like the pictures entered by Pete Hamill (see above).

Do you have a winning photo?
Have a look at the instructions and upload your three best photos before the closing date of 30 September 2016.  The prize for the winning photo, is "Through the Lens of a Photo Journalist" donated by the author, the QE2 photographer John Jochimsen.
